I think there are a lot of fan bases like them, we just are not exposed to them as much.

Not a fan of the large majority of the OSU fan base. Being from NKY I've seen how they act up here and it is kind of ridiculous. Mostly because of how they treat UC. Never before have I seen more disrespect from one school too another than OSU towards UC. They act as if they are lucky to be in the state. At least UK fans have a little respect for UL fans and their programs.

 

Any fans of the traditional powerhouse are going to be rabid and crazy. OSU and Bama have the same exact type of fan base, crazy as heck. But UK basketball is the same way. So 100% spot on Clyde

That's part of it. Nebraska football has a huge base and they're not like us or OSU.

The whole state is also thirsty for football success too. OSU is the only pro team in Ohio to win a playoff game in a long time.

One more time for clarity. Yes, I know there are other fan bases who are crazy.

 

However, being that this is a UK-dominated board AND being that OSU football fans are(rightly) going nuts the topic seemed timely.

A lot of them are both — UK hoops fans in the Northern end of the state have long adopted the Buckeyes as a FB stand-in so they'd have some skin in the national game.

 

Before cable tv was everywhere the only college coverage you could get in NKY was UK basketball and OSU football. Also add to the fact of the large number of people that have moved across the river to NKY in the last couple of decades.

Same, I don't know anyone (outside of BGP) that is a UK basketball and OSU football fan and I'm from the NKY area. Age might seem to be a big factor in that.
