The final game is being broadcast live on UPN cable five in Lexington. I imagine it will be on TV elsewhere also. Probably on the same stations that broadcast the boys championship last Sat.

You are correct Three Lions: Apollo vs Jeffersontown...... with J-town winning the boys sweet sixteen and no one complained about two public school playing for the state championship. Lets just hope no one complains about this championship game, because it is two private schools.

 

While I really like Rose Hill, my guess is this game will end as they all have in the Sweet Sixteen, by whatever score LexCath wants to win by.....

 

As I said in a different thread two or so weeks ago, the State High School Girls Basketball Tournament was won the night that LexCath and Scott County played. If Scott County had won that game, the results would be the same, except it would be Scott County vs Rose Hill with Scott winning by whatever score they wanted to.... Scott Co. and LexCath are better than most teams in the USA and are much, much, much better than any other team in Kentucky.....

That game was closer than the final score. I would have loved to see a game betwwen them with Kala 100% at this point in the season after playing together for 3 months

Do you still feel this is true? I watched the final game on TV and LC didn't seem to run away with this team. I didn't feel they were that (muchx3) better than the other team.

Yes I do, and it was my quote. Rose Hill is a very good team, and I will take nothing away from them at all, but if Scott County or LexCath played Rose Hill ten times the score would be worse each time..... As I said earlier, I have never seen a team play with so much heart as Rose Hill did, but with the limited number of players that they have, heart can only take you so far, and I really do think LexCath or Scott Co would win every time.....with the score being worse each time...... Again I love the way Rose Hill played, and think they earned the respect of everyone but......Remember just my opinion, and I have no reason to like or dislike either team, just a fan of girls basketball......

 

It is a whole lot easier to play a game when no ones thinks you should win, than when everbody excepts you to win.........

I don't think anyone can really dispute that. Of course, that means that our Rose Hill girls head up the next level and that isn't bad at all.

Thank you Scotterbob.....If RH bench, was a tad deeper, then.......WoW, but you can only except so much, for so long, from so few.... Rose Hill is a quality team that played as well as anyone could except them to play in that game....... Good luck to the young ladies of both teams......

The second time around with a less than 100% Kayla, the final margin was 17 in a game that was played a lot closer than that. Would they will 99% of the time? Probably. But to say that the games would get progressively worse is a stretch at best.

I didn't think he was saying anything negative. I simple had not seen either team play and didn't see that LC dominated the final game. Just wondering if LC was having an off night or was RH having a tremendous night.

I would like to see a third game, with Kala healthy and able to play man defense (so we could defend the perimeter) and Emily on Novosel the entire game.

 

My prediction is that the 9 point spread that existed with just over six minutes to go in the State final would be there at the end...and maybe less of a lead.

I don't know if I agree or not, I think that the injury helped on offense. Before everyone flips out, let me expound. Defensively, there is NO doubt that a healthy Kala makes a difference, but offensively, had she been healthy, she may have forced the issue and frankly, her turnovers of late were a definite issue IMO. Instead, she distributed the basketball and that alone allowed other players who provided different and more difficult matchup problems to hurt the opponent. I don't know if she had been 100% that results may not have turned out the same. No offense aimed toward Kala, just my opinion.

I refer back to the All-A loss at Richmond. Too many turnovers trying to force the issue, etc.. We may all wonder what might have been if she had been 100%, but the outcome may not have been as favorable either.

Catholic had basically 3 walkovers, (no offense to their opponents) the games of the tourney certainly didnt push the Lady Knights, plus they came from the top bracket with an additional days rest, and as deep as their bench they all should have been rested. Rose Hill came from the bottom bracket, 1. No Rest Day, 2. 2 tough games, 3. Virtually playing 6 players, 4. Late game Saturday morning played down to the wire, 5. A less than 100% Kala Faulkner.

 

Catholic should have been the fresher team and the press they applied, Rose Hill basically blew thru with ease. I'm certainly not saying the Lady Royals beat Catholic with everyone rested and fresh in a single game, single night setting, but all of the advantages lie at the feet of Lex Cath in this championship game and Rose Hill gave them all they wanted. I don't believe under different circumstances the game is a 30 point blowout.

I honestly believe that if the two teams played 10 times Catholic would win 10 times. They are simply that good. I think Catholic had some advantages most of which TBF addressed but it wouldn't have made any difference. I don't think it would have been 30 points but Catholic wins under any circumstance.

 

Rose Hill made a great run and has a great team but Catholic is off the charts.
