You are the GM of:

Arizona

Buffalo

Houston

Tampa Bay

Or a similarly situated team. Would you want Cutler on your roster?

I might take him over Dalton in Cincinnati.

Arizona, no if Palmer comes back, if not, I'd do it because if Arians can't fix him no one can. No way Lovie goes that route with him again in Tampa. Texans maybe, Bills I'd probably stay with Orton.

No way, at least Dalton cares.

If I'm Houston yes. They won't be in running for a top QB, he's got the big strong arm that Bill O Brian would want. Other than that, absolutely not.

No, no, no and no. With that contract and that attitude, I will look elsewhere. He has been in the league 9 years - he is not changing.

No!

I liken him to Jeff George.

Or Boy George, either one. "Do you really want to hurt me?"

In a QB driven league if I have a team like the Texans and Mallett is out of the picture, then yes, I want him. I guess the whole thing depends on what Mallett is going to be able to do. Otherwise, the Texans are built to win now and are a playoff team even with a horrible QB situation.

If I'm Buffalo and I have a solid foundation and only need a QB, play in tough weather where the wind is a factor that necessitates that your QB have a strong arm, I'll definitely take him.

If I'm a Tampa Bay fan and Lovie Smith wants him back, I'll trust Lovie over whatever faith I would have had in Schiano.

I'd be more likely to take him if I have a playoff ready team that's missing that one piece but that window might be closing a little (i.e., Texans or Buffalo are more "win now" than Tennessee, Tampa Bay, etc.).

If I'm someone like Tennessee who is missing a lot of pieces that need built up, then I don't really want him unless I'm the coach or GM who just has to win now to save his job, but even then, I don't think that's a smart play, it's just the one that saves your job for a period of time.

^ As a Tinhorn fan you should want nothing more than the Tacks to sign him :lol2:. I do.

If they do, and it means that the Texans pass because they believe in Mallett and think they have their QB with him (which I'm fine with), then all good.

I have NO doubt that Cutler can perform at least as well as, if not better than the following: Ryan Fitzpatrick, a hurt Ryan Mallett, Tom Savage, and Case Keenum.

If the Texans wanted to put JJ Watt at QB, I don't think he could play the position, but I wouldn't really argue with them either because he's one of the few guys who gets results on the field for them.

They have a Defense that is ready to go and can shut down some of the League's best, and still sit at .500 despite playing under center with guys I've listed above.

Mallett is the wild card because he was injured and only started once they came off the BYE Week (and let him learn the playbook), but otherwise, I'd take Cutler and his attitude at QB and see what he could do with the team with his cannon arm (throwing motion be damed because he can sling it) by throwing to Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins if we put this year in a vacuum and had a "do over".

Maybe impetuious of me to say as a Texans fan, but I wouldn't blink before making that call (probably what you were getting at in Post #5 above).

BTW, Grizz, the Jags Defense is one of the more underrated units in the NFL, and while they won't get to my 5+ win prediction from earlier in the year, they are still underrated and have a ton of young talent. I also think they have their QB in Bortles after watching him in the 2:00 of the 1st Half against TEN. As long as the Colts have Luck, then the AFC South will run through them, but the rest of the division is still going to tool up enough to make things interesting.

Cutler makes perfect sense for Arizona or Houston. Him going to a rebuilding team would be a disaster of Mass Colonal Ejection proportions.

Cutler makes sense in Buffalo. He could mark sense in Houston as well. GM's and coaches just meet to understand what they have with him.

He is a lot closer to Mark Sanchez than he is to Drew Brees. Both Buffalo and Houston can win with defense and running and can create an offense where they minimize Cutler's impact.

If Cutler is throwing 20-25 times a game, he is a good pickup. Otherwise, he will lose games for you.

I agree — should've included Buffalo in my earlier statement.

"Spindoc"....I have been thinking the exact same thing for some time now.

Jeff George and Jay Cutler both have/had superior arm talent. Little thereafter.

Jay Cutler has not shown he is quite the crybaby that Jeff George was in his day.
