The KHSAA has assessed sanctions against a crew of five football officials

Featured Replies

Really unfortunate for Murray, but it really is all KHSAA could do. Judgment in the flow of the game is way different than misapplication of a rule. Not sure why they delivered consequences for the total association of officials in the playoffs. Maybe I missed something or I don't know something, but that doesn't seem fair to those that did nothing. I do think it was fair consequences for the officials involved.

I think the Commissioner handles it well and did about all he could to explain what happened, his remorse for the situation and decisive action for the offense.

This happens more than the general public knows. Associations are held accountable for the training and quality of the officials they send to any game, in particular post season. While I would not be happy if I was an official in that particular association, I understand that is the way it works, so you work harder with your crew all season to insure you don't run into this.

I wonder if they pre-gamed a situation like this ?

What a shame for the kids involved, action should have been taken sooner, too bad the game could not have been replayed.
yeah, because that would ever really happen

Well aware of that, I asked what the college rules were on it. I found it so I posted it.

A school in Oklahoma has gone to court to try and force their high school athletic association to let them replay the last couple of minutes of their playoff game two weeks ago where they had a touchdown called back because of a sideline infraction.

The situation sounds identical to this one we are discussing. I'm not sure how they could go back and replay the end of the game now.

Wow.

Should an Oklahoma judge order a high school football game replayed? - The Washington Post

My understanding from various reports is that the playoffs have been held up waiting on a ruling from the judge. Supposed to hear the case today.

Mind blowing.

Had the coaching staff been where they were supposed to be, we would not be having this conversation.

Show me one game where the coached stayed where they were supposed to the entire game.

So because everyone does it is ok?

GOT ONE! It's something NO officals EVER calls taunting or showboating during a live ball.
I saw it one year cost Trigg County a TD in a game they lost by 12 points. Kid ran down the sideline headed to the end zone and started celebrating at the 10.
