The KHSAA has assessed sanctions against a crew of five football officials

So because everyone does it is ok?

No, but if you are going to call it, at least administer the call right. We can argue whether it should have been called or not. I watched it and thought the call was weak. However, by the letter of the law, go ahead and call it. But administer it by the letter of the law too then. It did cost a team a chance to play for a state championship - just a shame the bonehead officials messed that up.

Judge ordered no replay in OK game.

Cannot blame him. Would create a precedent where every time a team had an issue with a ref, we'd be heading to court.

I didn't say that.

If the refs are going to call it, get it right. They administered the penalty wrong and screwed over a bunch of kids in the process. If you are a ref, you should know how to enforce a penalty correctly.

I bet this will be on the Part 2 test next year and should be on the video rules on line training instead all of those stupid ads for the KHSAA sponsors that the officials and coaches are forced to watch, More rules and on field issues and less ads!

Agreed, but they did make a mistake (they are being reprimanded for it), so now what do you do to fix it?

I have been told that the referees in the CKFOA don't work as crews. They are mixed and matched every game, even the playoffs.

Will there be any sanctions against the referee and his association of the Mayfield and Williamsburg finals? Will the overtime be played again?

You can't fix it. You learn from it and move on.

That is correct policy board dictates we don't work as crews. NFL SEC Big 10 work as crews policy board thinks we are better split up ?

It is always better to work as a crew, you can see the screw up in the playoff the last several years and see this does not work out. If the best officials were going each year it might work but when you have a old assignor that sends one of his buds this is not qualified to work you get in situations like this. Best crews should have the best games!:angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::angrybird2::meh::meh::meh::meh::meh::meh::meh::meh::meh:

Hence why you have bad officiating. Individuals get blamed but its really much much more.

The officials are a team and they can not just be thrown together and expect good results.

Coach, fair question here...

Could this also be a direct result of a watered down classification system? Perhaps the numbers are just not there for really good or for this argument "State Championship" or playoff caliber referees to do all 6 games.

IDK, just thinking a total system might just have gotten exploited with this one by basically telling all teams that we do not have enough qualified and very good referess but we want to make sure at least 5 games or perhpas even less get the really good ones and then its a crap shoot from there on and lets keep our fingers crossed. :thumb:

It would be interesting to see the protocol for the 6 Games. Do they assign randomly or do they start with 6A and assign their A team and move on down the ladder. Could just be the case here since this game is 2A.

I do know for a fact that the referees in the 4A State Chapionship game did not know the rules on at least two calls that I remember and one was for each team so I guess it works out in the end...

That would be hard to believe that out of the whole state which put on approximately 105 games each week that there would not be 12 of the best crews on the job for the semifinals. This was a bad one to be missed, but missed it was. Referees should not call a penalty if they do not know haw to properly enforce it. That would be like calling a holing call on an offensive lineman and backing the ball up 60 yards.

No they do not know the rules at all.

Food for thought, the Crews picked to do the State Championship games, do not do the semi finals games the week before. So that means 30 of the "best" are off a week.
