How does one "choose" between two schools in the same district. I thought you had to live in the schools particular boundaries. Is this not a Boone Cty BOE thingy? I guess I'm wrong on that. Idk!

 

That is a very good question, and I do not know completely the answer but I do not think the family has bought a house yet and were comparing schools before the home was purchased in Union. Outside of that, no clue. Like I said I am not familiar with the topic so I do not know the details, just heard from a "little birdy" that he was going to enroll at Cooper. Like I said before, I wish the kid the best of luck wherever he ends up, and if it is Cooper, then that is one less position that they have to worry about filling next season LOL

An interesting fact was pointed out to me. I'm not sure if it's even true, but interesting. The discussion was whether or not Coach Wirth's job is safe. My answer was yes, that he was not in jeopardy, especially since the 2nd Highland score was much closer than the 1st.

 

The rebuttal argument was now that Coach Brossart is in the Championship game with Dixie at the 6a level, Coach Wirth is the only Coach with more than 1 year as HC at CovCath that has not played for a State title (some were in Ohio Ie. Rasso).

 

The argument was that Coach Wirth had become the Coach Listerman of CovCath sports and was the next in line to have an "upgrade".

I've never judged a coach on making a state championship game or not.

Kind of a silly argument considering the small number of coaches Cov Cath has had in its history. Not to mention Cov Cath beat the snot out of Brossarts Dixie team this year.

Should all Cov. Cath threads include an asterisk and a footnote that says:

I will admit I am not completely in the know on this topic and don't have "reliable" sources, but I heard it was down to Ryle and Cooper and Cooper was the pick. Again, just a rumor that I heard, no idea on the truth of the matter. Good luck to the young man wherever he ends up.

 

Just to ask though, why is that an interesting choice? Cooper has built something very special this year and only graduate 8 kids and only 4 of them played. A team full of young kids that made the state semi final game.

Because he is moving in from out of town. Where they choose to live will determine the school he will play for. He will still need to get approved by the KHSAA as every transfer who has played a varsity sport is automatically ineligible till the KHSAA rules the player eligible. But it should not be a problem considering he is moving from the other side of the state.

That wasn't the important piece of info from my post but thank you for the clarification. The point I was making is that Cooper only looses 4 or 5 seniors who saw significant playing time. QB, A WR, 2 OL and OLB

So this means Covington Catholic is going to field a team again next season? I thought maybe it was time to give up.
