December 2, 201411 yr Coley to UK would be awesome. He recruited Barker hard to the U. Should have taken an official there just to go to South Beach...I would have supervised.
December 2, 201411 yr All I can say is the new OC better bring in some offensive lineman that can hold up better against the SEC d lines and linebackers. You can have the best game plan in the world, but if two or three defensive players are in the backfield at the snap almost every play, not going to get much accomplished. I have some insight into what UK wants from its OL recruits. They want top tier athletes than can run, and have great agility, but are light. These type of linemen are needed for pass protection, but, are not big enough to provide effective blocking between the tackles on running plays. They get any push and the dline penetrates.. The offense may move the ball between the 20's, but they don't score TDs because this type of OL is not built for run blocking.

December 2, 201411 yr Well, they will take big heavy guys that can move but they are rare. Wouldn't anybody take these type of lineman?
December 2, 201411 yr Wouldn't anybody take these type of lineman? No doubt, common thing between them is athletic.
December 2, 201411 yr If Coley leaves Miami for UK, Al Golden should be immediately fired. Coley is a very green play caller but is quite possibly the most talented recruiter in the country. UK would instantly get a recruiting bump. Coley has shown flashes of great game planning and play calling. He's by far the most unproven candidate. Resume says he was the OC at FSU, but Jimbo called his own plays. Would be a steal for UK, though risky, and an absolute embarassment for the U.
December 2, 201411 yr Author I just wouldn't understand why James Coley would decide to come to Kentucky. He grew up in Miami, went to high school in Miami, is now the offensive coordinator for the University of Miami, his family and his wife's family live in Miami, and he makes about $500,000 per year. There are always issues not visible to the naked eye, but for James Coley to uplift his Miami roots and come to work at the University of Kentucky would be a supreme shocker to me.

He knows Golden is on borrowed time. Only reason Golden is still around is tha Shalala is retiring in a few months (want to allow the new president a fresh start) and Golden's insane buyout. Miami alumni and fans could not be more displeased with the program right now. I think it's worse than Randy's last days. Better to move on and continue to move up through the coaching ranks than to stay on a sinking ship. In addition, I think with a stron year at UK he is a much more viable candidate for a Miami opening or any other opening. The biggest concern with Coley is that his offense has no identity. Even the QBs he recruits are vastly different. It's not really pro-style like the KSR guys are pumping. It's more of a multiple, mix and match system.

How many times did you see Miami on tv, 3? 4? Where UK was on some form of National TV every week with the SEC Network.
December 2, 201411 yr How many times did you see Miami on tv, 3? 4? Where UK was on some form of National TV every week with the SEC Network. Calling the SEC Network national television is a reach in regards to UK games. I doubt many people across the country were watching UK-UT Martin that weren't UK fans. The SEC network is no different than any regional network unless it is a big time game. UK hasn't played in a true bigtime game in decades.

December 2, 201411 yr They had at least two or three primetime games this year including a CBS SEC game of the week. So about the same as Miami.
December 2, 201411 yr SECN in over 65MM homes. That's national. How many people watch UK football games that don't live in Kentucky. I'm not stupid, I said that I know the SEC Network is a national channel. But I'm willing to bet that more people will watch the Notre Dame-Northwestern game than the UK-UT-Martin game. UK is not a national draw on any network.
