He has incredible numbers but hasn't played above AA yet. Maybe pulls a Mike Trout and plays a month in AAA but hard to imagine him starting the year with LA. I've read the Dodgers are looking at Alexei Ramirez but that was a couple of weeks ago.

Ramirez has average less than 100 games per season over the past four. It's amazing how load of money clouds the judgement of team owners and GMs.

There was an article about it before last season called Moneyball with Money talking about it. I posted a thread about it on here. Just because you use sabermetrics doesn't mean that you don't spend money. They are still only projected to have the 9th highest payroll in baseball this season. That will change if they trade for Hamels. Purging payroll like they did during the season last year (and in 2012) is what allows them to retool like they do.

I still don't think they are spending it wisely. I don't think Hanley is a wise investment. He is often unmotivated and has trouble staying on the field. I believe Puig really lit a fire under his behind in 2013 and even that wore off. But to me, they identified the more attractive names on the FA list and bought them. That's what the Angels, Yankees and Red Sox have done and it doesn't work out well most of the time.

 

All that being said, they just bought two big time October players. IF these guys can get there, boom.

Those stats were also accumulated in 2 pitcher friendly parks. Fenway is a much better hitters park. It is offense, not pitching, that is at a premium around the league right now.
