So back to my point about Mercer having an asterisk by their championship.... It's 8 years later and we're still debating the conditions of it... In the court of public opinion that is an asterisk. If SW wins a SC the merits of it WILL be debated for years as well. The solution is very simple for the KHSAA, if your going to classify schools based on 4 year enrollment numbers than demand the school provide you with a projection of enrollment for those 4 years, then place said school where they belong based on what the enrollment numbers say, for instance if a school's projections show they will have 4A enrollment for three of the 4year period than put them in 4A... As it is now, SW will play down in class for 8 years... That is something SW knows and the KHSAA knows... The good thing is I believe the competition in 4A will take care of the problem on its own, It's so lopsided this year that I'm not sure 3A can handle it and SW may steal a SC from a deserving 3A school....

Are you talking about my comment that Monroe is playing BG next year??? Assuming that's what your sputtering about, you won't have to wait too long to find that out. I don't have a press release or tape recording but you will see when next years schedule comes out that Monroe plays BG week one at WKU... As for the Falcons making it to the final four, who knows. I like our chances though, we've got some great classes coming up in the next few years... You need to watch how you talk to batman little buddy, remember we're on the same team. I question this entire post. Who did you speak with on the administration? Name names. Operating out of two schools? Please explain more in detail. How were they operating out of two schools?

 

I ask because I live here and had a front seat into the entire merge and I have a super hard time believing anyone who was on the administration admitted to you that they merged for football when they all stated publicly that sports had nothing to do with it.

My memory isn't what it once was, but there were several discussions about it on here that said otherwise and that was what fueled the fire so to speak.

Just fired off a bunch of texts and I am remebering it correctly. Even spoke with someone who was at the Harrodsburg campus at the time. The middle schools weren't consolidated that first year but the high schools were.

 

Harrodsburg was the 9th Grade Academy and Old Mercer County High School had 10-12.

With the new school not constructed that was their answer in order to make everyone "fit" into one consolidated school... This is also purely from old memory but I think there may have also been special programs or classes that required students to be bussed to Harrodsburg as well at the time from the best of my memory.

 

I think this was all the crux of the issue...including my view point...was that Mercer was a consolidated school, but did not have a new school and the only way they could accommodate the consolidation was basically a rushed effort requiring both campuses and splitting the 9-12 students up.

 

Obviously consolidation was important and needed... but there is no doubt in my mind that it was expedited that year in an effort to cash in on an excellent collection of talent and a KHSAA loophole that would give them a competitive advantage.

Fact is nobody has any reason to pump SW over BG. Win something and they can talk. It will still be an uneven comparison.

How exactly did SW manipulate the system? You appear to have a giant chip on your shoulder towards the Spartans. They didn't lobby the Khsaa for their class. They have and will fall within the male population range for the class they play in be it 4a or 3a. What motivation does the Khsaa have to pick SW to give a "gift" to?

I'm sure when the new Christian Academy opens up on Lovers Lane they will have BG on the schedule their very first year in existence.

One of the biggest gifts given in khsaa football was Highlands moving out of 5A. Had it not been for that BG wouldn't be holding all those rings. Now that Highlands is moving back that run is over.
