True or not, that makes no sense to me. NCC earned the right to have their score be listed as HOME on the scoreboard because they won the District.

 

It's the truth as far as who will be handling the gate. However financially Newcath will make more money than if they were the"home team". Both teams will split the gate equally, After expenses. If Newcath were to be the home team the field rental, which would have gone to Newport, would have been taken out of the gate proceeds, and the remainder would have been split between both teams. But now that Newport will be taking care of the gate, Newcath will get half of the gate proceeds, which would be more than if they would have taken care of the gate themselves. Therefore Financially, Newcath is better off. Game wise, nothing changes. Newcath beat Newport last game, the fireman's bell is Newcath's until NEXT year when they play the battle for the bell. Newcath is focused on the game itself, not the gate, concession or who is in listed as home team on the scoreboard. There's a lot of talk about this affecting the Newcath boys, and how this will get into the head of the team, but trust me, they don't care either way.

This game is a tough one to call. I think if Newport can avoid turnovers and penalties then they can beat NCC.

 

I agree and believe that both teams are good. I don't want to pick against the Breds because of thinking they are more disciplined overall. However, Newport definitely has the players to win. The big question on them is if they can play a full disciplined game. Whoever wins, it will be very close IMO.

I lean NCC because of the turnover questions and penalties but would not be surprise if Newport wins. If NCC turns it over or has an excessive amount of penalties to match then I favor Newport.

I lean NewCath by 17. Moore has a huge game on the DLine. It finally clicks for 4 quarters for the rest of the line. Smith keeps his emotions in check and doesn't get a 15 yarder. All it takes is making the QB stay in the pocket. Let him throw, don't let him run. I know that he has a good arm, but that isn't his most immediate threat if you keep the receivers in front of you. If the Cats win by consistently passing in the shallow and middle third, then they earned it. Take away all big play threats. Let them dink and dunk.

Think NCC will win, but rooting from afar (Anderson Co.) for Newport.

Newport would need to stop the NewCath rushing attack and make them throw the football. NewCath has struggled to protect their QB and he tends to hold onto the football way too long in the pocket. Vert simple game plan. Pressure the NewCath QB and stop the run. Easier said than done however.

I agree, good point!!

Does anyone know how the field conditions are? The turf there is beat up to say the least and I fear the field conditions become a major factor tonight. Hard to run routes if your feet come out from under you during your cuts.
