Holmes does not charge Holy Cross to play on their field, not an issue at all in Covington and/or with Holmes. This is referred to as good community relations and both school systems understand doing what is best for students. Too much sour grapes crap on this side of the Licking River with this Public / Parochial issue in Newport. You fail to remember that Newport field renovation involved tax dollars from families that send their students to NewCath and those families continue to pay taxes to support public education! $1800.00 is not a bargin, it is a crime!

So Holmes allows anyone to play on their field for free? Who pays the light bill? Holmes eats that too? Does money grow on trees in the Covington School District? I think not. Holmes has to get something out of the use of their stadium, probably the concession money as already stated.

In response to all the field payment issues. Go to newportwildcats.org, look under Disrtict Board. Then go to archived meetings and look at board meeting for regulars meeting in July 2014. Rates are $900 for field use in regular season, and $1300 for playoff. Now that rates are listed, get back to focusing on this game, and who wins and why. Give both teams the credit for making it this far and let the game be settled on the field. Good luck to both teams.

For a bunch of contributors to have nothing to say about game plans, players, etc, and instead whine about locker rooms, the cost of the field, etc. Just take your ball and go home! To have a regional game played between two teams less than a mile apart doesn't happen every year. Start another thread, don't muddy this one up!

This should be a great game. Both teams have had very good years. Ncc has the blueprint for success: strong non-district schedule, strong line play, team speed, and excellent coaching. Their in game adjustments are superb. Newport is big and fast. The wildcats have been on fire since their loss to ncc on a cold rainy night weeks ago, but they must cut down on the turnovers. If this game is on a grass field I would give a slight edge to ncc, but if the game is played at newport stadium, as it should, newport will probably win. Once again, this game could come down to who has the ball last... However, my insticts tell me if ncc cannot contain price and he runs wild then the wildcats win. I have no dog in the fight, I just want to watch a good game. May each team demonstrate good sportsmanship and stay classy whether in victory or defeat.

I agree with most of this post. But I'm pretty sure it was raining on the turf field where NCC beat Newport the first time. I will agree that NCC with have to contain Price, but on the flip of that Newport will have to try to contain Smith who I believe had an exceptional night against them the 1st time as well. Good luck to both teams! Stay classy and win/lose with respect and dignity.

This game comes down to NewCath's ability to pass rush in their lanes. Their d - ends are going to have to stay fundamentally sound bc if that QB gets the chance to escape to the outside it is good night Irene. I don't think Newport can run on NewCath. Give me the Breds 31 - Cats 18. NewCath makes Newport one dimensional and take advantage of good field position.

Newport wasn't one dimensional last time. They actually out gained the Breds. I don't see them making Newport one dimensional this time around. Should be a dandy.

Lets go Wildcats.

 You're not going to recognize those printer parts when I'm done with them.

If the game is NCC's home game, do they get the gate and concessions? Maybe that's at issue. I would imagine it gets worked out. The game belongs at Newport stadium.

I've heard the rumors about NCC playing at Thomas More for a couple years. That would be incredibly stupid. The field has no lights and would require Saturday afternoon games and that would conflict with TMC schedule.

Newcath will have the gate as well as the concessions. Gate proceeds will be divided between the 2 schools after expenses, which includes field rental.

Much of it came from busted scrambles. Keep contain and make the Cats throw it 25 plus times with nothing deep. That has to be the game plan. Make them pass it in the middle third consistently.

Rumor has it NCC is trying to move the game away from Newport.

Anyone close to either program knows that's ridiculous.

Just talked to Wags. He said the game is being moved up on the hill 10 am Saturday bring a chair.

Works for Newport! They don't need a FG post, they don't mind going for 2.

Serious question, does Lawnboy have a mower large enough to provide shuttle service from the old Kmart parking lot? That hill is a bear to walk.
