What I can't figure out is why not just ignore the dive and play the keeper every time? Make them take 12 plays to score instead of 3. Better chance of making a mistake.

 

When you have a talented runner like Zajac(sp) ignoring the dive will give you the same result as QB read. It isn't really a traditional dive either more like a zone scheme and then a counter scheme, have watched Dixie run the read off both blocking schemes

If you ignore the dive you will be giving up a lot of yardage also.

 

The power pistol zone read they are now running when you watch it close turns into to isolation plays. If he gives it, one of the up backs is leading up in the hole on the lb, if he pulls, it the other up back is leading the qb I off the edge. It is a really really nasty play to try and defend.

I like to think I see and watch a lot of football and even though I see a lot of power pistol I have not seen any team run the zone read blocking scheme that Dixie utilizes. I love it!!

 

The worst part for other teams is that they run a counter scheme with it as well and pull the backside guard just in case Moore decides to pull it and run. In all honesty it is easy to stop if you don't have either the athletes OR the OLine, but darn near impossible to stop if you have both, which Dixie does obviously

I agree. Im pulling for SK big time, but if Dixie wins I will be a Colonel fan the next few weeks and hope they can find a way to bring back the title to nky. Lets Go Pioneers!!
