Old Cardinal Stadium Demolition Begins Monday

Call me old school but that's the blue that CCH should still be wearing. Not sure when the shade got changed.

Agree with you COMPLETELY. That was changed under the watchful eye of John Rosenberg.

Give me back the darker blue uniform, the stripes down the legs and the belly-jerseys.

Can't say I blame them. What a crazy finish.

Why wouldn't they? They were the second place team.

It's been 20 years since we beat Murray for the title. I can understand that people won't ever stop talking about it when it will probably be the one of the craziest endings to a state title game. But it makes me laugh when people say we should have lost that game. Murray had their chances to win that game but they didn't. The ref Joey Brewer made the right call at the end so the 1994 state title trophy always has and always will be in Fort Mitchell. ?????

My best memory of the old joint is seeing Farm Aid there in (I think) 1995.

John Cougar and Willie...great stuff...

Yep. I had the pleasure of being beaten up on scout team by those two. Tomorrow marks 16 years ago that Artie died, and December 5 will make it 19 years since Capes died.

Hard to believe it's been that long for both of them and makes you wonder where time goes at times. They were both excellent football players.

No doubt. Hard to think of what might have come...

I like hearing Gary Ball!

I did to until he butchered my last name. Grew up waiting for him to broadcast a NewCath game that I was in and couldn't get my last name right.

I played baseball there. Ground balls after a rainy morning were like catching bbs out of an air rifle.

Was he pronouncing it "MEX-ee-tuck-ee" or "ME-HEE-tuck-ee?"

Loved how he said my name...lol

1994 State Final against Boone County....there was a lot of talent on that field....and I was fortunate enough to have played my best game of the season that game.....

First round?

I'm not sure of the year you're referencing, but in '94 (Couch's junior year), Cov Cath traveled to Leslie County and upset them in the semis. Lelie County was 13-0, and our safety had two picks on Couch. They lost at Highlands the following year in the semis.

Link to an article from Sports Illustrated, 1994. Couch and Leslie County played Knox Central in a first round playoff game in Louisville on a Saturday. Male, with Chris Redman, had defeated Louisville Holy Cross in a playoff game earlier in the day at Cardinal Stadium.

Tdyballgame and myself shared a State Championship win in 1981 defeating Etown 40-24 on really cold nite and then Tdyballgame repeated that feat the following yr with a 6-0 gully gusher win over Franklin Simpson...:thumb:

Lot of memories in that old stadium
