The Handshake vs. The Fist-Bump

Featured Replies

I've never seen a fist bump as a greeting, only as some sort of celebration

I shake hands when I greet someone, with the ones close to me or I care a lot about it will be accompanied with a hug and maybe a back slap

Classic handshake unless in the company of my sons friends, or people I discuss sports with, or celebrating a good play....I know it seems odd. Sports have promoted the fist bump to new heights. In many instances has taken the place of the high-five!

In a business setting, I believe a fist bump is always appropriate.......as long as you "explode it" while pulling away........

I always shake hands, and I keep my low copay at the Doctor's office.

The next time I meet someone for the first time and offer OR take a fist bump will be the first time.

Offering sign of peace at mass; I always give wifes grandma the fist bump.

If we meet and you go for the fist bump, I can't trust you.

If we've known each other for a while and you go for it, I'm down.

Oooh … that's a double no like from Clyde there.

If I walk into a Bank to meet with my Banker and he fist bumps me.......Then he doesn't need to be my banker!!! Handshake for me!!!

Let me take this in a different direction...what are the rules on hugs (especially guy to guy)? I belong to a Catholic Men's Group and we do some "bro" hugs on occasion.

The rule is you should shake their hand while hugging so you both have a barrier in between to keep you from getting too close.

Or just hold it for 2 seconds, do a double pat and then release.

Bro hugs are a must, with the exception of introductory meetings.

I stopped myself from making a horrible Catholic joke.
