Who does this #68 play for? If it is someone for Newport you're confused. They don't have a #68.

Reference is to #68 Justin Gangwish of Holy Cross from last Friday's game against Walton-Verona.

If you were following the post you would know they were talking about the WV and HC game not Newport.

Walton fans: Do you think the 43 yards a game passing and the under 50% completion rate is more a product of having a good running game and not needing to pass and that some games were not close? Or is it just that the passing attack has just not developed to the point that the running game has? And lastly do you think Walton Verona

Newport fans: Do you think giving up over 200 yards rushing in losses to NCC and Scott and giving up 200 to WV in a win means WV will keep in solely on the ground? If so, is Newport prepared to stop that rushing attack?

Both fans: How do you think the crowd and the re-match factor into this game?

I didn't catch the Scott game but it looked as if they had their way with Newport. As for the NCC game, 70 of those came on the first drive, after that Newport seemed to have tighten it up pretty good. IF and that is a big IF Newport can force WV to the air I have to think that favors Newport. If they can't stop the run, which I think they'll be ready for, it'll be a lot of ground and pound. I do however think Newport has a good enough to contain the run. as for the crowd, it may or may not play a factor as WV doesn't have enough seating to cause lots of noise.

The WV crowd was not an issue Friday night as far as being excessively loud. The PA announcer was pretty funny, basically doing play-by-play as the plays progressed rather than just traditional PA work. It didn't bother me at all. My only complaint was with one couple who were a little over the top standing near the rail being a bit mouthy with the game already a running clock. Our sideline had to do a little turning of the other cheek on them.

Do you think a substantial number of Newport fans will make the trip? What about the weather? Low of 21 Friday.......any thoughts on that?

WV can throw the ball but have not really had to. Selling out to stop the run is a problem for a defense because it opens things up for the pass. If you can play straight up and stop the running game then that would be a issue for them. I don't think Newport can stop them without selling out to stop the run. We will find out though.

Talked to a couple people earlier today and "supposedly" Newport is planning to take a bus or two of students and fans to the game.

I have to agree. Selling out causes play action, if WV has any, to open wide up. If the Cats can play straight up then I think they win.

That would be awesome. Both teams deserve to play to a full house. It is nice to see Newport's community getting vested in their boys.

IMO, this is a problem for WV. At some point they are going to have to throw it and will need to execute it well in order to advance. Their district is terrible and has done them no favors as far as preparing them for the playoffs. I think this will be a very good game and I have no idea who will win. Both teams are well coached and will have their teams ready to play. Good luck to both.

Its been a while since the community had anything to really cheer for. It is good to see them starting to show they care about the success the kids are having.

Will this game be on radio or online anywhere?
