Leaning towards Newport in this one.... Will be a good game.

This should be the best game of the entire 2nd round of the playoffs. I see this as a clash of two really good teams. I think they match up well. Newport tends to play a little bit undisciplined at times and Walton Verona has bad lapses on special teams (at times). This game should be close and may come down to who has the ball last. My son thinks Newport is gonna win by at least 2 scores.... I dont see that, not on a cold night at WV.

David Carr was stopped (so you say) because he was held on every play! PERIOD............

 

I have absolutely no dog in this fight, but this comment is ridiculous. If he is getting held EVERY play then it would have been called. If he doesn't get his hands on the O-Lineman faster than the OL did to him, then it is his fault and he should get quicker hands. It is like I always told my kids: If you are getting held, it is your fault!

i dont think David Carr will be a threat to Newports Line.

for the record: OL can legally hold IF they're hands are inside. EVERY OL does it. The key to it is when the DL starts to move one way to reset the hands. If the OL continues to hold then it will be called. OL are taught to hold. As a DL, if you shoot the hands and engage before the OL then there is no way you get held and dont get the call, plain and simple.

I am picking Walton to win this one at home. I think Newport might be looking past the Bearcats to the possible 3rd round match up with NewCath. Walton is one of the best coached teams in the area. I think coach Barth will have his kids focused on this one.

No one looks past anyone in the playoffs, especially a team you barely beat the first time you played them.

Regardless of who you could potentially meet in the next round, you must take care 1 week at a time. Nobody is overlooking anybody.
