October 23, 201411 yr Maybe not in this case. Are we seriously suggesting that this doesn't or can't happen? That a woman's position of authority can't possibly have anything to do with these situations? We had a thread on this a while back. Same situation, more or less. I might have been the only one who considered it an abuse of authority. I'll pass the torch to you here and let you explain to otherwise intelligent people that this isn't, by definition, unproblematic.

For clarity, beyond all the juvenile humor, who says this isn't a problem?
October 23, 201411 yr For clarity, beyond all the juvenile humor, who says this isn't a problem? Without re-reading every post at least gametime, UKMF and CBDV.
October 23, 201411 yr Without re-reading every post at least gametime, UKMF and CBDV. The only power a gym teacher has over a student is if she's hot and wants to get down with a 16 year old that is very likely wearing out a tube sock in his bedroom every day otherwise...
October 23, 201411 yr For clarity, beyond all the juvenile humor, who says this isn't a problem? No doubt, I thought that part was self explanatory. It is definitely a problem, no matter the gender of the teacher. A certain level of trust has to be a given. When I send my kid to school, the minimum conduct I should expect of the teachers and administrators is that they don't have sex with my kid. They are in a position of authority and trust. I can't imagine anyone thinking otherwise.

October 23, 201411 yr Without re-reading every post at least gametime, UKMF and CBDV. It is a problem, it isn't a new one, nor one that will go away anytime soon. Kids are way more bold than they used to be, as in they will say and ask anything. A lot of these teachers mess up, plain and simple, and should do the time. Once again though, how many unmarried boys or men with a pulse are telling this girl no, regardless of if she is a teacher or not?
October 23, 201411 yr AP English teacher? Sure. The person in charge of dodge ball???Yes. And the school secretary and maintenance man, etc. I want my kid to be safe from predators and every employee of the school is held to that standard. Anything less than that is moronic.
October 23, 201411 yr Yes. And the school secretary and maintenance man' date=' etc. I want my kid to be safe from predators and every employee of the school is held to that standard. Anything less than that is moronic.[/quote'] So if she wasn't a teacher and your son ran in to her at McDonald's, all is well???
October 24, 201411 yr My whole point is IMO, what two individuals of legally consenting age want to do in private is there decision and they shouldn't face legal ramifications for it. Whether I agree with it isn't relevant.
October 24, 201411 yr So if she wasn't a teacher and your son ran in to her at McDonald's, all is well???Of course not and you know nothing in my post suggested that. No more than I believe that you are really OK with the football coach bedding your daughter but not the Vice Principal. Every adult should have enough moral sensibility to not cross that boundary. In addition to that minimum standard for all adults, people in a position of trust (and also influence) like teachers have to be held to an even higher standard, and their conduct has to be above reproach. There is zero excuse for a teacher allowing herself or himself to fall into that trap. Teachers have a legal and ethical responsibility, as mentors and caretakers, to not violate the trust that every parent places in them. And that is true regardless if their students are 14, 16 or 18 years of age. And as I said earlier, anyone who thinks it is OK in my opinion is a complete idiot.

October 24, 201411 yr And my point is I highly doubt the 16 year old saw the smokin hot gym teacher fresh out of college as an authority figure. He saw her like the rest of the guys in the school, as the hot gym teacher. He just had the chance to hit the sheets 30 times and took it. The position of power was being willing to let him take the sports car for a spin. No different than if he ran in to her at the local McDonald's and was presented the same opportunity. IMO of course...

IMO of course... But it's her issue, or am I misunderstanding you? She has to be the adult. And she won't work in the same field now because of it. So all of that college better have been pretty thorough because she basically screwed it away in the teaching field.
