October 23, 201411 yr I actually have a theory. I think it's happened at this rate for quite some time. But before this it was the couple's word against everyone else. So even if someone told on them as long as the kid and teacher both denied it there really wasn't evidence. But now you have text messages and social media where the "bragging" is stored for all to see -- including angry parents and the police.

My thought on that is they most likely went through a bad adult relationship that might include physical or mental abuse. They see these boys that are young and innocent and know they will have complete power over them. They can easily be influenced with the power of... well you know. Hint - Prince made a song about it. October 23, 201411 yr It is immature adults seeking control and attention, they all have to be damaged or insecure in some way so they seek out the young boy whose mind they can blow, or control, its exciting sneaking around feeling young again. This is unhealthy for the kids and the adult, a lose lose situation. People should just no better, yea the boy got some bragging rights, but he will also always be that guy....known for this other than the other things he may or may not do.

We run into some additional problems when one party is in a position of authority over another. The teacher-student thing has some issues beyond age. No crime? Perhaps not. But still some serious issues.

October 23, 201411 yr Full disclosure: even if it had been in the water when I was 16, I don't think it would have helped because experience suggests that nobody was throwing themselves at the kid who even at 6'4" couldn't make the cut in freshman basketball and was on the academic team and a member of the church choir but... jeez. Now I'm 30, a reasonably successful guy and despite the fact that I look basically like a Nordic Seth Rogen, if there's a 24-year-old cute-as-heck teacher out there looking for a night out and a good time, my Friday night is free, that's all I'm saying. October 23, 201411 yr I had some shady 20 somethings hit on me when I was 16 and it was creepy! I only hope my daughter has half the street smarts that I had at that age to realize the same thing.
