"Why is my reputation taking a hit? For backing a kid who has done nothing wrong?" Fisher said. "I don't want to get into this. The questions weren't supposed to be asked today. I'm done. I'm done."

A kid who has done nothing wrong? Really?

Somewhat agree here. He has to choose his words more carefully. If he is referring directly to the autograph situation, that's one thing. But there's no denying the crab legs and shouting of obscenities along with the other minor stuff.

And no, the rape case in which he was charged does not count in my eyes.

"This will never hit the air!"

Or WILL it?

I think where he loses credibility is when he goes through his backing of Jamies and the typical responses (which I totally agree with) but then goes on and talks about Jamies like he's this great kid who does all these awesome things and does them right. Clearly this guy has his problems, and that is one thing, but don't try and paint this different picture with all the problems he's had. Comes off as cheap and sleazy.

And maybe Jamies is a great kid, but given the 5/6 different instances and the circumstances, save it for now. Don't dig yourself in a deeper hole. He just sounds like some FSU fanboy trying to prove everyone wrong about his star.

It's not illogical to think or believe that everyone is wrong about Jameis though. What if he didn't sign autographs for money? What if he is truly innocent of sexual assault? Then all we got is the BB gun incident, the crab legs and the obscenity and he was disciplined for all three of those things. All minor and immature things in the grand scheme of things.

How does Mark Richt's situation compare to Jimbo's? In Georgia they know have have hardcore proof that Todd Gurley got paid for his autographs. When Gurley was setup the dealer made sure he got Gurley. When Winston(and many other college football players) did their autograph signings nobody videotaped it or if they did that proof hasn't come out yet. As Jimbo stated......"if the facts change then so will the punishment." Right now there aren't any facts or proof anywhere that Winston violated any rules or any laws other than shoplifting some crab legs.

You don't suspend your star player over speculation and what looks fishy. You suspend him over facts and in all instances when FACTS showed that Winston was in the wrong he suffered the consequences.

Keep trying though, Joker. I'll be here all day.

So someone forged Winston's signature and did it so well and in such large lots that it fooled authentication experts? They've done this and Winston and his people, who've seen the value of his signature significantly decline, know about this, yet they've taken no action? Riiiiiigggghhhhhhtttt. People aren't giving the same treatment to guys like Mariota (who have apparently also signed for others) because this isn't Jameis' first, and probably won't be his last, brush with controversy. It's just getting tired to everyone. Who knows what kind of things he's gotten away with that no one has heard about?

Winston is a distraction and is going to end up being the reason everyone will love seeing Florida State fall. It's not like he's a good kid whose been given a bad rap or something like that. He's a guy who knows he can basically get away with anything and acts like it. It's probably an accident when he makes a good decision given how he can't stay out of his own way.

This may not hurt Fisher immediately, but you can bet it hurts him and Florida State in the long run. No one wants to be "that coach" and no one wants to be "that school", but it's what Jimbo and Florida State are quickly becoming.

People can hate Cal at UK, but he's not really had a situation (aside from Kanter, who was never ruled eligible to begin with), where the media could just go teeing off on one of his players. Still, people will bring up Derek Rose and Marcus Camby when they talk about reasons they don't like him. Jimbo probably has people over his head telling him what to do, but he should think about how long reputations follow people through the rest of their careers when he makes some of the moves he's making.

Jimbo looks like he's aged years over the past 9 or so months. As a whole, the public has just had enough of Winston. He can't stay out of his own way and with each passing week, there's probably going to be more that just piles onto that.

If I were Jimbo, I'd have had a babysitter with him for awhile now. If it's so bad that managers can't control him, then maybe a graduate assistant or something. If it's so bad that they can't control him, then he's letting Jameis be the problem and essentially handing off his future to Jameis. I'm going to guess that knowing his career is in the hands of Jameis and being familiar with his decision-making on a level that most of the public will never know, I'm going to say that equates to lots of sleepless nights for Jimbo.

Then he's still not showing good judgment because he keeps putting himself in those situations. What if he has done worse that's been covered up? I think it's safer to assume that he's done more that we don't know about than to assume he's innocent in all of the incidents.

Once or even twice is a mistake. When it's the BB gun, facing a rape charge, stealing crab legs, saying something stupid given the situation, a Title IX investigation, and now the signing of autographs, he is one guy who probably has some miserable luck if those were the only things he's done and the public just happened to find out about them.

You're focusing on Winston because you don't like him and not Jimbo. Again, for all he knows, Winston signed but didn't accept money; served suspension for the crab legs; has not been charged in the rape case, etc. He might be guilty in ALL of these cases and might be a horrible dude but...He's eligible to play, he's your player, you play him and you support him. Deep down, Jimbo may not even like it but he has to.

You said it will hurt him--I totally disagree. Players and recruits will see that he supports his players through good times and bad. Your comparison to Cal might be right in this sense: outsiders don't like him or what he does but his players love him.

It is now becoming fashionable to blame ESPN or the media for their own troubles.

He's right though.

For the overblown coverage? Sure, but I think this also says it well:

Jimbo Fisher is basically wearing a tinfoil hat now.

Yes, Jimbo, ESPN's relationship with the SEC is the reason your quarterback was investigated for rape. ESPN's the reason your quarterback stole crab legs and walked out of Publix. ESPN's the resason your running back may have beaten his pregnant girlfriend. ESPN's the reason your running back may have robbed a Marine. I can't believe ESPN has so much mind control over your player's actions.

That's downright terrifying.

ESPN hates Florida State so much that the network paid FSU twenty million dollars last year to air its football and basketball games. ESPN hates FSU so much that it broadcast live from campus last week. ESPN hates FSU so much that what exactly? How can you even tie this conspiracy together? Let's try to be as dumb as Jimbo and all put our tinfoil hats on together. In Jimbo's twisted mind ESPN has conspired to make FSU players commit crimes and then covered them on its airways more than it otherwise would have because this story benefits the SEC? This makes zero sense.

Do you remember the way ESPN covered SEC players like Johnny Manziel and Cam Newton? Neither one of these guys were investigated for any kind of criminal wrongdoing. Yet both of these guys got covered like they were members of Al Capone's gang. Cam probably got paid to play football by Auburn. Johnny Manziel overslept for the Manning passing academy, probably got paid for signing autographs, and made the money sign after a touchdown. Compared to them Jameis Winston and FSU have gotten off easy.

ESPN doesn't benefit by FSU losing or winning. Neither does the SEC. Newsflash, ESPN's going to make a ton of money on the college football playoff no matter who plays in it. ESPN's also going to make a ton of money on the SEC Network no matter what happens going forward. The SEC Network distribution is already taken care of, the network is minting money, both ESPN and the SEC are swimming in cash already. Nothing that can happen with FSU changes any of that that.

I make it a point to not reward Clay Travis with clicks, so someone help me out, what was the context of Fisher's comments and SPECIFICALLY what were they?

Some of the coverage has been deserving but a lot of it is overblown. Jameis has been convicted of rape through the media, he's been convicted of selling his autographs through the media, his student union obscenity was brought to light by the media trying to decipher a kid's tweet who witnessed it. Rumor has it that ESPN has 47 employees on their payroll currently investigating Jameis Winston.

This is why Jimbo made his statement. Dumb, stupid, ill conceived. Whatever you want to call it. This is what he is up against daily. And the more FSU keeps winning despite all of this the worse it will get.
