Now I think that you're going too far with it. I'm not saying that 16th Region All Star team would win it all, but they would more than be able to compete.

I was taking into consideration the draw the 16th has this year. Yes, I think they would be able to compete with a few teams in the tournament. Do you think if they beat Graves they would be able to get by South Laurel ?

If you took a couple players from each team in the 16th and sent them to Rupp, I dont think they would be able to compete.[/quote

There is a group of 16th region (primarily) all -stars that have numberous aau state champioships to their credit, not to say its the exact same thing, but a good aau all star team always beats a good school team, South Laurel sent their school team to the state aau all star division last year and couldnt win it, bottom line, I would like my chances with a 16th region all star team against any school team at state

One other note, Rose Hill has dominated the middle school state championships for years, starting with a triple overtime victory over the core group on this years South Laurel's Juniors, and that was without Oj and bill ever playing,

Lets not argue about who is good and who is not,.... All these teams worked their butts off to make it to the Sweet Sixteen, lets not take anything away from that. I believe the thread was who are yur top 16/17 now..............

I would not put Mason, Hazard or Boyle above Russell! Mason is way overated and will lose the first game as most likely will Hazard even though their draw isn't bad. Russells record is not a good indicator of their team.

Uhhhhh... Mason overated? are you sure we are talking about the same Mason team.

If anything this team is underated. I believe they start a freshman, 2 sophomores, a junior and a senior.

1. South Laurel

2. Shelby Co

3. 7th Region Winner

4. CovCath

5. John Hardin

6. Warren Central

7. Madison Central

8. PRP

9. Mason Co

10. Boyle Co

11. Graves Co

12. Apollo

13. Christian Co

14. Hazard

15. Russell

16. Johnson Central

That has nothing to do with whether they're overrated or not. All you're telling me is that they're going to be even more solid next year.

Christian could make some noise.

Yeah, but we are not talking about next year are we?

Mason was not even picked to win thier region this year. With the talent and experience that Pendleton and Clark Co. had this year they were the favorites. As hard as it is to believe Mason is and has been an underdog all year for the 10th. I just do'nt believe there is any evidence to show that they are overated at all.

No press

Outside the top 25 all year except for a week maybe.

Where are the grounds for an "OVERATED" label.

Then what is a good indicator of how good their team is? From an outsiders view this year appears to be near as bad as the 16th has ever been.

Not their record. They had two starters out for the 1st ten games and another starter(major contributor) out for the next 5 after that with Mono. He really didn't get his legs 100% until very late in the season. Granted the 16th is not considered a power region but it wasn't like it was the worst ever, it was just very even thoughout without a completely dominant team. There are not any state contenders but there are quality teams in the 16th. A record is not always an indicator of how good or bad a team is. Many teams have great records but only because they play weak schedules, not because they are that good.

I know that Johnson Central got a tough draw, but i thoght thesee were rankings, and if that is true. then i know for a fact that they could beat both Russell and Hazard.

A fact ?

There might not be grounds for an overrated label. But I don't believe they are underrated, and the reasons you just now gave are more the type of reasons I was looking for. Telling me the classes of their players doesn't tell me how good or not good they are. It just tells me they are young.

S.l. ,j-town ,prp ,john Hardin ,warren Central , Shelby County ,ballard , Mason County ,covington Catholic, Graves County ,boyle County, Hazard , Christan County, Russell, johnson Central, apollo ..

Hazard beat Johnson central by about 15 this year.

Johnson Central lost to Hazard and Lawrence County. Russell beat them both.
