October 15, 201411 yr Regardless of party she should be recalled immediately . I see that ADF is representing the pastors , one of my churches pastors is a high ranking employee of ADF , Cornell law grad as well as a seminary grad .

October 15, 201411 yr Clear breach of the "Wall of Separation between the Church and State." I don't see this holding up in court.

October 15, 201411 yr Here's the scary thing...not that any of the sermons will be turned over to the city...that will be struck down by a judge/court if it gets that far. The scary thing, I think, is that the city council actually is brazen enough to do this and thinks it's something that they actually can demand be done.

I'm not longer shocked by the power that Mayors and City Councils think that they wield.
October 15, 201411 yr In court, how did it get this far? Dont you all think a city council knows the laws. The city council passed their own ordinance. The court will settle their demands as unconstitutional.

You would think the ACLU would step in and defend the churches from this obvious assault on its liberties...in case you are wondering, I am being sarcastic...
October 15, 201411 yr Wow, and you all say the government doesn't interfer with what is said in churches. city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court. City of Houston demands pastors turn over sermons | Fox News This is truly disturbing. When the government can try to stifle free speech in of all places, churches, we are treading in dangerous territory. The liberals (and I don't mean ALL liberals) who champion diversity but only if you agree with their version of diversity are really doing serious damage to this country. I would love it if thousands of pastors headed to Houston tonight and protested outside her office or better yet her home. She needs to be taught a serious lesson about her abuse of power.
October 15, 201411 yr You would think the ACLU would step in and defend the churches from this obvious assault on its liberties...in case you are wondering, I am being sarcastic... You beat me to the sarcasm. ACLU probably agrees with what the council did. As I was informed in another thread, the ACLU never assists unless asked. Think I may call and ask them to see if they would actually get involved. Any takers on bets?

Whatever you want to put on it, I'd bet that they have a history of siding with Christians in defending their religious freedom. Of course, that doesn't stop people from being misinformed and bashing them without facts, but what are you gonna do about that? Unless you are a pastor in Houston my guess is that they would turn you down.
October 17, 201411 yr Author Now they only want the pastors speeches, which is obviously the sermons. Houston is getting what they deserve by even electing the mayor.
