October 9, 201411 yr Author I just listened to McConnell's call on KSR today. I really didn't care which way I voted either way but after hearing his call today, I KNOW exactly who I'll be voting for now.Third party candidate?
October 9, 201411 yr The polls published are just keep national money flowing in probably. This deals with House elections and has no mention of Grimes in this article but an interesting comment related to above. Facing Longer Odds, Democrats Shift Funds - WSJ Rep. Steve Israel (D., N.Y.), who leads the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the party’s House campaign arm, this week called the midterm elections an “incredibly difficult environment” for Democrats. “For every five polls that look good for Republicans, you get one that looks good for Democrats. Democratic optimism has shifted from a macro level at the beginning of the cycle to a micro level at this point,” said Nathan Gonzales, deputy editor of the nonpartisan Rothenberg Political Report. On local radio the day after the Bluegrass poll came out with Grimes ahead the host noted that all the major polls showed a strong lead for McConnell. This matches the senario cited above.

RCP Average - +3 for McConnell Fox New - +4 for McConnell Courier-Journal/Survey USA - +2 Grimes CBS New/NYT/YouGov - +6 McConnell Reuters/Ipsos - +4 McConnell That is a little tighter than what I heard on Tuesday on radio. I think the national Dems and PACs keep the money flowing as long as there is a chance. And same for McConnell. Both have outsiders funding and PACs involved. Of course public polls are more about trying shape the battlefield that simply reporting it. The campaigns have their own - considered more accurate - polling. But the media guys want to have it 'correct' on the last cut. The last set of polls will be interesting.
October 9, 201411 yr FiveThirtyEight now shows a 0.4 gap. Isn't that the one that has been uncannily correct in recent years?
October 9, 201411 yr If it is truly that close, color me surprised. A five-time incumbent and current minority whip can't seem to shake a rookie Obama sycophant. I honestly don't know what it says about either candidate.

[/quote'] I was just going to type this, but I was going to add the very large amount of money that he has spent, along with the PAC's. I think one thing is as we get closer the election people are realizing his "a vote for her is a vote for Obama" isn't what they want to hear as they know he isn't running. He never talks on what he will do, or why you should vote for him. Plus, as I posted yesterday, republicans I know , including tea party members, mostly say they are going to vote against Mitch, then spend the next 5 years grooming a candidate to run against Alison in 6 years, but they leave it open on who they will vote for in 6 years, depending on how she does.
October 9, 201411 yr She challenges Mitch to a winner-take-all shooting match. That'd be worth the price of admission.
