3 shots on goal for CC and NDA could not finish on over 20 shots. Selfish play by the freshman and sophomores on NDA WILL cost them a shot at a State Championship this year. Playing like you do in U15 and U16 club ball does not cut it in high school at a varsity level. It's a shame that girls are playing their hearts out and get no help from the younger players who consistently blame others and don't hustle but instead hang their heads and give up when they are not involved. If they are not the ones who are scoring then they don't care!!!

 

I'm surprised to hear that a lot of freshman and sophomores are playing for NDA. Is that because of injuries, or are they really better than some upper classmen? Typically NDA has 8 or more seniors...

It was senior day, they started about 8 seniors, they didn't look hurt and didn't get scored on until later in the game.

NDA had 9 seniors celebrate senior day. Great win by CC. Shots on goal were very lopsided for NDA but the defense in front of the CC goal was relentless and the goal keeper did a great job keeping the ball from crossing the net. It was a crazy windy day and I don't think anyone could score going into the wind. It was that bad.

 

NDA is fine and a loss will only make them intensify their charge into the post season. CC impressed the heck out of me with their defense. But it is important to remember that I know nothing about soccer, I just take pictures.

Oh please, a kick in the direction of the goal is not a kick on goal. Anybody can kick it at the goal from 30-35 yards. 3-5 at most of the shots were legit and the vast majority were off frame or of no threat. Why not just congratulate the Lady Camels on a very good team effort instead of making it sound like NDA controlled the whole game because they didn't?

Man, this soccer board is always entertaining!!! All schools calling our players and coaches and whatever else they can when lil Susie take a whipping. Unreal!!! I'm sure the upper class-man here had nothing to do with it. Where is the upperclassman leadership helping the young players understand why it's important to play as a team??? Please don't tell me the younger ones won't listen, because I'll just tell you that maybe the older "leaders" need to change their style of communication then. It's a team game and if you are a team, you can fix this stuff. If you're not, then you're right, no state championship. Quit blaming everyone else and fix the issue. Not complain about it on here!

That feeling you get in your stomach after seeing CC hand it to you in your house on Senior Day.

I caught the second half of the game and can only comment on what I saw. Having seen NDA play a few times prior I would say the wind had a definite affect on how they play. They almost always play very good possession ball and use very good diagonal passes often across the field to play up and will go back to to move it across the field. Additionally, their keep throws it out to her wing backs to start the possession. The issue i saw in the first 20 mins of the second half was the keepers throws weren't being thrown in front of her backs which caused the back to come back facing their net to retrieve the ball. Their long diagonal cross passes were being blow down and short of their targets. The coupled with CC's quick reaction to the pass combined for several take aways by CC. The last 20 mins of the half saw a greater sense of urgency and they went a little more virtical especially with the keeper punting instead throwing to the backs. Overall, NDA controlled the majority of the possession again from the half i saw but seemed to almost pass too much in the final third especially in the lat 10 mins of the game. Several time I saw great ball control with players dribbling across the field horizontal and instead of turning and shooting would play possession with a pass back and out to the wings. CC didn't seem to have a shot on goal in the second half although they had a few great breakaways.

 

I would agree with statements about CC's keeper playing a great game. She had several key saves with shots within box and 2 i saw that were from the line. NDA seemed to have several corner kicks and with the wind gusting as hard as it was provided several balls dropping inside the box but just nothing put in the back of the net. I have no idea who are upper or lower classpersons but pretty much all the players they put out there seemed to have great technical skill and overall communication from what I heard sounded like they were all talking well although a few times I heard girls call for shots that were taken as mentioned above.

Whoever did this should win best in class award for all soccer supporters. I thought I was seeing double when I looked down the stands and saw him/her walking around. Really nice to see someone having fun in the stands.

The wind definitely played a factor. The wind was consistently blowing left to right and both teams had to deal with it being a disadvantage for a half. NDA had the wind to their back during the 2nd half and I really thought that they would reap the benefits of that. I was a little surprised that they did not alter their corner kicks, as a couple of them seemed to blow behind the goal. I was also surprised that NDA did not alter their game plan and make adjustments for the wind. The NDA keeper did a great job of throwing the ball to her defenders to keep possession. CC lost a bunch of 50/50 balls that their GK punted due to the wind.

Neither the girl kicking the corners nor the goalkeeper could get the ball to sit still in the wind long enough to kick it. At one point the NDA corner kicker turned to me and said can you believe this wind, it is impossible to kick it. Tough conditions for both teams.

Everyone is missing the point. The game was at ND, right? And the prayer was said over the PA an te CC stood silently and respectfully while the ND girls yelled and screamed and were in a huddle? Is that what is being said?

The prayer although planned was overlooked until the last second. I was on the field and you could barely here it. NDA huddled and did their normal chant and the prayer started during that moment. CC was already on the field and stood quietly, but they were much closer to the speakers. Trust me it was the NDA former coach reading it. Had they known they would have stood silently as well. The wind made it almost impossible to hear the PA from across the field. File this under unfortunate but meaningless.
