In case anyone is curious, Mt Healthy is 6th in their region in D-II, just behind Tecumseh and just ahead of Xenia. Can we have some more posts about what a football power they are? Those are always entertaining. Oh, Amelia is 8th, another Ohio juggernaut.

LaSalle is the black eye of the GCL South.

And remember these will change tomorrow (9/30) when the next set of computer rankings come out.

In Ohio D1 Region 2, 16 of those teams make the playoffs since there are only two regions in D1

The top 8 get first round home games hosting the next 8 in a 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14, etc. All subsequent games are on 'neutral' fields.

In lower divisions there are 4 regions and 8 from each region make the playoffs.

You can check unofficial harbin ratings at JoeEitel.com

I read on Twitter that one poll has Moe #1 overall in the state and LaSalle #2 overall. They play Friday.

Seems odd to see Colerain so far down.

It's odd that they are 1 and 3.

I do not believe that anyone in Ohio ranks teams except by divisions.

Calpreps has an overall ranking for Ohio with Moeller #1, St Edward #2 and LaSalle #13.

I could not find an overall state ranking on MaxPreps, but they do have Warrensville Heights playing Johnson Central in Paintsville on Thursday (10/2) and Maple Heights in Maple Heights on Friday (10/3). BTW, the Cleveland Plain Dealer lists only the Warrensville Heights vs Maple Heights and it is a league game. So who is really playing JC on Friday?

LaSalle is #1 in D-II.

I didn't realize they played in a lower division. #2 in D2, #4 in the GCL South.

calpreps.com has Mt. Healthy #11 in the state in D II.

Too early to take the Harbin's seriously yet. Lot's of league action (against mostly like-sized schools) left to be played. You'll see lots of movement in these rankings in the next several weeks.

I will say GCL South has half a chance of crowning two state champions this year. Moeller is a favorite in D-I, and LaSalle is certainly among the top contenders in D-II. Decent little conference.

FWIW, I don't think this will happen. But if a four team conference does win two state titles, that would be a heck of a thing.

Lol. You do realize they get zero points for playing an out of state school like BW, so they are a game down? You do realize this is a computer, not humans? First 5-6 weeks of Harbin are typically meaningless, and do nothing except set the playoff seeds. Mt Healthy is very good. What they are seeing in these rankings is why teams like BW have such a hard time getting an Ohio team to play them. If SK was playing under same system, they would not be in playoff hunt right now due to SOS.

I have been following Cincinnati H.S. football for about 23 years, I'm quite familiar with the Harbin system, but also Mt. Healthy. They are a fine program, but the Beechwood folks would have you believe over the last couple of years that Mt. Healthy was this football power in Cincinnati. They aren't.

As to the Harbin system, I'm not sure you're completely up to speed with it. They absolutely get points for out of state schools, hence the term "Harbin Cow". Here is the verbiage:

Non-member OHSAA school opponents are assigned a point value based upon male enrollment in grades 9-11. Second level points are awarded based upon the point value of the OHSAA non-member school multiplied times the number of victories by the non-member school (one-half value for a tie).

Note: It is the responsibility of the OHSAA member school to report the weekly results of the games of non-member OHSAA by entering the information into myOHSAA by 10 A.M. on the Monday following the game.

5.31 When the non-member school plays more than 10 regular season games, only the first 10 games will count unless the game with the OHSAA member school is the 11th game in which case the nine games preceding it shall be counted.

5.32 When the non-member school plays less than 10 regular season games, the open dates will be considered an open date except in those states which conduct a state tournament in which case the first round tournament game in those states will be counted, when the first round game is played before the final OHSAA football computer ranking is completed
