A lot of talk about how much better Cov Cath's schedule is than Birds, but do above scores mean anything? Is Cov Cath getting too much praise? Is Madisonville really on the same field as Cov Cath/Highlands?

 

Cov Caths schedule is not any better than the birds if you look at it game by game. I'd say they are pretty close.

HHS vs Cov Cath's schedule. Just because you have one really good team on your schedule, doesn't mean the entire schedule is better. Its one game. It doesn't count for more because "its a really good team". Maybe in a formula situation when SOS is trying to predict something, but not head to head when it's only a win or a loss and whether you are trying to determine whether this group of team is better than that group of teams.

SOS is completely irrelevant. The better team will be determined by 10PM Friday - at least until the likely re-match in November.

I think that CovCath should be a slight favorite in this one,but... CovCath hasn't faced a passing offense like Highlands. Moeller can have a high power passing game, but didn't really unveil it against CovCath. Having said that about the passing game, I think this game is determined by how well the CovCath D-line and LB's can contain Hodge. If he is kept in the pocket, I feel good about the Colonels chances... if he gets outside the pocket and puts pressure on the Colonels with his legs, the domino's may fall as that will open up the downfield passing game.

 

CovCath also has to establish a running game with Darlington. The entire running game cannot be left up to Wagner.

All this talk surrouding this game is pretty exciting and makes me think I should attend this one instead of SK ............v. who are they playing, again?

 

Seriously, I think this one on paper shapes up to be a "good ole fashion goodin !" I think the post about containing Hoge is accurate but not very easy to accomplish, he really breaks down coverages when he scrambles, everyone has to stay disciplined or he can run or throw. I am impressed with Dressman and think he needs to touch the ball more often. With good speed outside this year, it will be interesting to see if CCH chooses to throw downfield......I always think they settle for a short passing game against Highlands. No one leaves early from this one, I really think this is a fourth quarter victory for someone......

I agree a lot with this. But it's not easy to do. And if LB's get caught looking in the backfield at him, it often leaves the middle of the field open. But as one poster said, if they can stay disciplined and contain him, that would definitely be a good thing for CC. That really to me is the key of the game. Can the CC defense slow HHS down enough. We know HHS has no problems getting in shootouts with teams! Heck, sometimes it's felt like a flag football game. "hey listen, would you hurry up and score so I can have the ball back". "I just need the last possession, thank you!"

 

I also feel like the birds "haven't been showing their cards" either. I just have a feeling we'll see a more opened up offense than we have.

 

None of this guarantees a Birds victory because I do think Cov Cath is very good this year. Just a few of my thoughts though.

All I can say is this is Cov. Cath. week and I will save the "mutual respect" for next week. Right now it is "BEAT COV CATH".:angrybird12::ylsuper:

Is it Friday? Again I can't wait until Friday ? Again can't wait until Friday again! Looking forward to this one!!!

So a serious question......

 

Either team is down by a score late in the game.......the coach has one play that he knows will work but after it is seen he can't use it ever again....

 

Is Fridays game big enough to use that play in, or does he save it for the post season?

 

My thought.......CCH uses it and HHS probably doesn't.

Ok just finished talking to Tedfromvillahills and we agree that this game means way too much to leave a play in your back pocket. We both agreed both teams use it to try and win the game. TFVH said he didn't want to travel to Johnsonville but I, tdyballgame don't mind the drive. Especially when we stop in Stanton and say "hey" to our kinfolk. Didn't you guys stay in one our Motels last year on your way to Johnsonville?

Dressman should be back also

 

Ok, now the $64,000 question. Is Dressman going to get snaps at QB? If Wirth does that, I would be FURIOUS as a CovCath fan. Wagner is doing great. Leave him alone and make Dressman a Percy Harvin type threat. As I've read elswhere and completely agree with, sometimes CovCath thinks too much for their own good when game planning.

Against Henderson Co, at least when the game was in contention, Dressman played a little as a receiver. I can't imagine a scenario where he'll play QB, except for maybe a few gadget plays aka Sanu. Wagner has long proven himself as QB1 for 2014 IMO. Nothing against Dressman - he'll be on the field - gives HHS more to account for.
