Honest questions for all the Louisville peeps...

Is DeSales becoming the next Trinity/ St. X?

Is the rise of DeSales drawing talent that otherwise would have went to X/T?

The rise of the DeSales program has been meteoric and it almost looks like a sleeping giant may be waking.

I know nothing about either JV program, but 2A beating a 6A program like St. X, very nice. Seems like the Colts are in for a nice run the next few years. :ylsuper:

Desales has a good group here. Well coached and football kids. Fun to watch scheme, and competitors. Future looks brite!

Somebody please tell me they are moving to 3A next year!

Didn't see this one coming. I will say that I remember when X and DeSales would play regularly on the varsity level and the games were always competitive. I hope that X and DeSales continue to play each other.

No. They are content with 90 freshmen entering school each year. Trinity expects 360+ and X gets 375+ at the freshmen level. Holy Cross is the one school hurt the most by DeSales.

Surely, this proves that larger schools have a distinct advantage due to their larger enrollment?

Nope, they'll still be in 2A. Their district will include Christian Academy-Louisville, Shawnee, and Washington County. The opposite district is Clinton County, Glasgow, Green County, Metcalfe County, and Monroe County. They are Region II, which means they'll be on the west side of the bracket with schools like Mayfield, Murray, and Owensboro Catholic.

DeSales is 8-34 all-time against St. Xavier. They haven't played since 1998, which was the last year DeSales and the other small Louisville schools played in 4A. DeSales' last varsity win against St. Xavier was a 10-7 victory late in the regular season in 1986. That St. Xavier team went on to win the 4A state championship.

Colts win!
Yes, indeed! Colts won both halves: 12-10 and 7-3. Keeping a two score cushion most of the second half was paramount to the Colts victory. Both teams used some juniors, for those of you who care about such things. DeSales varsity QB was their punter/kicker today.

Brothers was outstanding at QB for DeSales. Desmond Ridder was very good for the Tigers and should be the varsity starter next season. I liked DeSales dressing the freshmen and the fact they used two top dollar Miller Transportation buses to travel from Kenwood Drive to Poplar Level Rd.

That's a fact. DeSalles success has got many of our kids considering going there, when they would otherwise go to HC.

And much larger wallets.:thumb:

I need a DeSales supporter to tell me where the freshmen game is being contested this THURSDAY.

Kinda depends on what you mean but if you mean becoming a football power? I don't know but I hope so. Bring back the rivalry between T and DeSales would be great.

I will somewhat disagree with someone above and say that to some degree, DeSales is taking some kids who 5-10 years ago would have gone to X. DeSales's president Doug Strothman mentioned when hired that he intended to model his work at DeSales to some degree off Trinity's rise in the late 90's early 2000's. One of Trinity's goals back then was to slow down the large amount of student traffic that drove right by Trinity to Poplar Level Road. Now saying that, are there still numerous East End kids who go to X rather than Trinity which is much closer, sure. But that fact that Trinity's enrollment is MUCH closer to X's today than it was 20+ years ago shows that Trinity has been somewhat successful. Much of DeSales's growth has been picking off South End kids who 10 years ago would have gone to X. Because a DeSales Freshman class is still a little under 100 (I think) they obviously are not eating X's lunch but they probably are taking a dozen or more kids from each class.
