My sons used to sing Supertramp's Breakfast in America like this:

Take a look at my girlfriend

She's the only one I got

Not much of a girlfriend

Never seem to get a lot

Their version ends with NEVER SEEN HER EAT A LOT.

Ah, I sooo miss their innocence.

^^That is so very close to what I always heard when listening to that song.:thumb:

Strangely enough, given Springsteen's mumbly-mouthed ways, you have to refer to his original version to be able to tell what the real words are. I always was trying to figure out what this "dution" was that Mr. Mann and His Earth Band were talking about until I heard the Boss' original.

My dad listened to Kenny Rogers all the time. This is what I used to think the words were:

"You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille, with 400 children and a crack in the field."

You sure she didn't look at you like that because you were singing "Loveshack"?

You are probably right on the money, BUT I've always held on to the hope that it was because of Betty.....

Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Never ever could understand anything in that song except "hello". Luckily, they say hello over and over and over so you can still sing along with quite a bit of the song knowing only one word in it.

Never knew what the lyrics were until I heard this version:

I can barely make that version out either with her vocal gymnastics.

Elton John "Tiny Dancer". When he sings hold me closer tiny dancer. Always thought it was hold me closer Tony Danza.

Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". It always sounded to me that he was saying, "the chaz is not my own". Then I learned he was saying "the child is not my son".

Have had trouble with understanding many MJ tunes, and too many to count as his vocal delivery never seemed to resonate with me. He always threw in his own signature squeals and grunts and whatnots, and a certain style that seemed to distort how the words came out.

I always wondered if it was just me because he was so famous and I often questioned how on earth anyone was really understanding what he was singing, or if they were just getting off on the beat and melodies and the simple fact that it was MJ, but nonetheless they were certainly buying up his albums in astronomical numbers.

This always makes me think of a time I went to a Buffet concert with a friend of mine. He said love the song "When the bars all close."

I was like, What?

"I don't know where I'm a gonna go when the bars all close."

My sister loved, "The ants are my friends, they're blowing in the wind."

In the song "You're the one that I want" from "Grease" where John Travolta starts the song off singing "I've got chills, they're multiplying", I always thought that he was saying "I've got shoes, they're multiplying".
