There is a difference between most talented and complete in my dictionary. don't get all excited.

 

When I say most complete, I mean there is no real weakness among the starters on both sides of the ball. The most talented and deepest is different. I don't know if this team can do what we want them to do if AJ or Burfict sits out any length of time. If they were the most talented then they could fill in their spots and not miss a beat. Sorry but Tate does not take AJ's place.

 

What team in the NFL if they lose two of their stars who play as big as roles as AJ and Green goes on and not misses a beat without them? Just because a team is talented and deep doesn't mean they won't step down some when they lose players as important as those guys are. Burfict is the leader of that defense and does everything, so you could even take a starter from another team and put him in to replace Burfict and they still will lose a little bit of what they have because he means that much, and same with Green. You can take many starting receivers off other teams and replace Green with that person and the Bengals still would be losing something. So yeah no duh if Green or Burfict miss a good length of time it will hurt them. Those two players mean more than anyone and maybe Dalton.

 

So now the starters are the most complete on both sides of the ball? When you also fought that last year and tried to say the 2005 team also had better starters all the way around, and now it is the most complete team when its seriously the exact same people for the most part? Does this team have the most star power in the league, nope. Hence why we never will have to many pro bowlers. However is their overall talent better than majority of teams in the NFL? Yep, hence the reason why they are so complete on both sides of the ball just like last year. You just fought it all year last year because I said it and we were both in a whole disagree with whatever the other one says phase lol.

 

Remember this all started when I said this was the most talented team since the Super Bowl teams, and you fought that. I used my argument of them also being one of the most talented teams in the league to support it because no one considered the 2005 team one of the most talented overall teams, but just a great offensive team. The Bengals finishing in the top 10 in both offense and defense last year supported that claim that it was better than 2005 overall and one of the most talented in the league since I believe only one or two other teams finished in the top 10 in both. So now you take that and twist it around and say basically the exact same thing? Hey I am fine with it, because I know you can't admit that maybe you were wrong on what I was talking about last year lol. So that's fine you can twist it around and word it any way you want, because at the end of the day now at least we both see how well put together this team is. So hopefully we can have some good discussions on the team without just arguing. :thumb:

^Sorry I had to have one more long post to Hellbird, because it looks like we may be on the same page this year on a lot of things. So I won't be able to do that much anymore, so I had to get one last long post in.

Greenberg and Golic were raving this morning about how great the Bengals are. I have high hopes for the season but honestly I don't see anywhere close to "great" at this point. I do believe our Bengals have potential for a deep playoff run but I see so many things that need improving. I think this team is a decent team but still has a long way to go to be "great." The biggest thing is getting key guys healthy. Am I missing something since I have not been "wowed" by this team yet? I am very happy to be 2-0 however.

 

I think the thing that has impressed people the most is the fact that they played two solid teams, and didn't play their best games and had star players get hurt. Yet they still were able to win the games. The Bengals this game alone was without probably its top 3 receiving threats and still dominated the game. On defense Burfict has been in and out, and Atkins is still finding his legs and the defense has still played great. Obviously if the injuries keep happening it will eventually have an effect. However people see that they have won with the injuries, and not play their best. So it leaves a lot of hope for if and when they get healthy how good they can be, especially when they play their best.

Good point. You are probably right. People see the potential they have when completely healthy. I think Eifort was a huge loss. Sure hope he can return for the second half of the season.

There hasn't been a more impressive team through the first two weeks IMO.

I tell you what he is very impressive when he throws the ball. I know its only been three passes, however for not even getting to warm up he has been right on the money on all the deep passes he has thrown the last three years.

Loved the win but want to throw this out. How impressive is Atlanta really? Given Clevelands win over NO and their loss to Pitt who looked sick against Baltimore and the fact that Atlanta won 4 games last year, should we be all that keyed up yet?

Other than Red Zone production and injuries I really like what I see from the Bengals.

Both the offense and the defense played with "attitude" yesterday. One usually does not equate Bengals with attitude. They imposed their will on both ends of the ball. Tackling and hitting were nastier than I am used to seeing from the Bengals. I have sat and waited for the shoe to drop in both games for the Bengals to turn into Bungles. It hasn't happened. I'm happy. Get healthy, guys.

I hope so, I have Matt Ryan in fantasy football. Of course I sat him against the Bengals!
