Since you have drug me into this thread, why are you so snippy about Raceland? Yes, I am the team doctor at Raceland and I graduated from GC in 1986. So what. I guess your true colors are coming out...... Raceland fans have always been positive towards Ashland but I am seeing a cocky attitude from you that gives Ashland a bad name. I always have tried to be a positive and complimentary poster but your little snide comments about where I reside and the school I am affiliated with ticks me off. How is that for bashing?!

Raceland fans have always rooted for Ashland, other than week 2. I don't see the problem? Is it against the morality of the human race to graduate for a school and end of rooting for another years down the road? If this is true, why would teachers graduate, say from UK, and accept a teaching job at Louisville? I dont know the answer to that. Ask them personally. This isn't a "bashing thread". This is Ram, a Raceland fan, asking a simple question about another team to whomever may have insights and opinions on the topic. If you would like, start a thread "bashing" Raceland. Ask why Raceland is 2-1 this season and not 3-0. We would be glad to give you out thoughts and opinions on why we aren't 3-0.

 

Not a bash, a question on why Ashland isn't doing as good as anticipated.

Too many docs and not enough apples. Just sour grapes. Ashland will very likely be 1-3 after this week. The schedule then gets a little easier until Johnson Central. If they stub their toe against Rowan, Greenup, or Boyd they will be 4-5 and possibly a 3 seed. It is obvious there need to be some changes. What are those? I dont know. Suggestions? I would be interested to see what a simple quick pitch would do for our offense. If the strength is speed, why are we reluctant to try and get outside? Maybe you should switch the O coordinators spots, when Hart was coach, Dowdy was in the booth not on the sidelines, switch he and Tackett and see if it isnt more comfortable to all. Defensivley, teach these kids to play for third down, I would bet the rate of third down conversions in the last two years is over 60%. Also, if kids are not aggressive by nature take a chance or two and send some kids on blitzes. If you put them in an aggressive role they will by definition raise the level of aggressiveness. Most of all I would say stop beating kids up. I have said before they wont play hard if you dont have their back. If you are not willing to celebrate their good plays with as much enthusiasm and you criticize their bad plays you dont have their back. I dont have all the answers and I am not on the inside so I dont know all the problems. However to me these things are pretty obvious. My last suggestion would be to see what the former Highlands coach would want in the form of compensation to spend a week with the team and do a little consulting. Someone like this could hold the one key that would unlock the potential.

Please tell us the real answer for this BASH THREAD? I'm dying to hear it. I thought this was a high school sports forum where we discussed our favorite teams? Are we supposed to be all positive and just post happy thoughts?

First, I haven't done a thing. I've listened to 2 games on the radio, haven't attended one. Only thing I can go on is the radio guy. And listening to him second guess the coach isn't surprising, but makes me curious. Secondly, things need to change in Ashland obviously unless you're happy on the path that is this season. Sometimes these threads show the level of concern for a program which is a positive, not a negative. Maybe if you'd put the antennae down you'd agree that some of these concerns are legit. Or, get all humped up and defensive and enjoy the status quo.

I didn't realize it was our job to try and improve Ashland football. In case you haven't figured it out yet (and I'd say there's a good chance since you didnt know sidelinedoc and Spindoc are separate posters) this is a discussion board. That's what makes this board tick. I'm asked a question about what I think is wrong with Ashland, and I post my thoughts. If my responses are too hard for you to handle I suggest you don't read Ashland threads.

Lrcw and spindoc I wish you were fans of my biggest rival so you could cut down their coach and program. If you want Love fired you are going about it the wrong way. If you want love to change you are going about it the wrong way. If the Ashland radio guy is doing the same thing as you and the admin knows about it then shame on them.
