Jim Schue Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I spend a lot of time on my back porch, getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. But this is not a mosquito bite — it's something entirely different. It got me on Monday night, and today it seems to be getting worse. It raised two welps on my neck, and they're painful. If I were betting, I'd say it's a spider that got me, but I have no idea what kind. Anybody ever seen a bite like these? Any suggestions? I'm thinking I may have to go to the doctor tomorrow if it doesn't recede.

I was going to say spider also but I would think you would feel a spider climb up to your forehead, atleast that looks like your forehead.
Bert Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 May want to just call he doctor and see what they say. Some may say take some Benedryl and see how that works before coming in.
Jim Schue Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 I was going to say spider also but I would think you would feel a spider climb up to your forehead, atleast that looks like your forehead. It's the left side of my neck. As soon as it hit me, I swiped at it and I think that's when it got me a second time. Mosquitoes love me, so they're constantly landing on me when I sit outside.
Randy Parker Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Mosquitoes love me, so they're constantly landing on me when I sit outside. They are demon mosquitoes, sent by their overlord Garth "Lucifer" Brooks.
mcpapa Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 They are demon mosquitoes, sent by their overlord Garth "Lucifer" Brooks. And here I thought you were going to say sent by Getslow, the Mephistopheles of Mosquitoes.
Bert Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Does it burn at all? No pain is a good sign but still may want to talk to a doctor.
Jim Schue Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 Does it burn at all? No pain is a good sign but still may want to talk to a doctor. It hurts.
Bert Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 It hurts. Hopefully that is the swelling stretching the skin, whatever the bug got under your skin.
LRCW Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 You don't want to fool around with spider bites from a brown recluse. They can get nasty in a hurry, and cause significant tissue damage. I recommend seeing a doctor right away.
Bert Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 If you want to be gross you could lance it and then squeeze out some puss and then post a pic of it.
All Tell Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Brown Recluse Spider. It's venom causes the tissue at the site to become necrotic. Also very easily infected. See a doctor just to prevent the infection. Here's a pic I found on the web. Do your self a favor. Don't look there until AFTER you get it better but get to a doctor quick.
