Dixie dominated the point of attack on both sides, and that pretty much sums up the night. The Colones scored TDs on 7 of their 9 drives and the only two that didn't go for 6 were at the end of each half...

 

This is all you need to know about this game. I thought the Tigers would match up better in the trenches than they did last year versus Dixie, but they did not. It didn't take long for Beechwood to play a team a better than Mt. Healthy.

Someone in the update thread said something about BW being in great shape and that might help in the 2nd half. Dixie players were quoted as saying BW was done physically before the end of the half. It's hard to go both ways against a strong , physical team.

Dixie drops down next year, so their schedule will look completely different. They may keep some of the 6A teams on the schedule for their non-district games.

It is the last year of all contracts for all schools. Schools run their schedules on two year contracts and this is year two.

That was me. Once again,...I was wrong. Thought Beechwood would have more left in the tank seeing as they all looked done at halftime last week and came out swinging. Dixie played one hell of a game.

Surprising result, thought the Tigers might be ready to contend this year but this has me thinking that they are not going to live up to the hype. A lot of time left to work out the kinks but if I am a Tiger I am concerned

This will be a short game report because there really is not much to say about this one. It was a very uneventful game. Dixie ran the ball and Beechwood could not stop them. I am pretty sure Dixie's starters did not punt the ball but once and I honestly can't remember very many third down situations. Beechwood could not get anything going consistently against the Dixie defense. Here is how the scoring went:

Congrads to Dixie on a good win. Beechwood will drop a few spots in the rankings probably but they will get better.

I love the overreaction on Dixie over the CovCath game.

 

Dixie was bigger, stronger, faster, and more physical. They outgained Beechwood 475-228. There were no turnovers, no special teams TDs....no crazy plays or quick changes that affected the score. They averaged 7 yards a carry to Beechwood's 2.8. To everyone who says "Beechwood didnt show up tonight"...well, it wouldnt have mattered if they did. If they played this game 10 times, Dixie would win all 10. And, I am still of the opinion that Beechwood has a nice Class A team whose season starts in earnest on November 21st, and they will have a chance to win a state title. Not the favorite, but a chance. So, dont overreact to this one (or, Franklin Co, or CovCath, or maybe even NewCath) like everyone did to Dixie over the CCH game. They're still a threat to go a long way in November/December.
