Dixie Heights 48 Beechwood 21

Great job Dixie. Dixie has 9 returning starters on defense and gave up 21 points?

We all know there never has been and never will be a team like SK.

Dixie had a better defense with Fisk, Caple and other grads. You can't replace Fisk.

Too many going both ways still, right?

Dixie was up by 34 points at one point in the second half and yet most of their starting D was still in the game. Really kind of mind boggling to me. What if one of your starters like Johnson gets hurt during mop up time.. Makes zero sense!

Beechwood will win their next 3 (yes, I think they will beat Franklin County) and be 3-2 going into the Cov Cath game with some renewed confidence and momentum. The Cov Cath will be a more competitive game than this game versus Dixie. They will then win every game till they face Frankfort in the regional championship. That is where it is all pointing to.

I havent seen Frankin Co, CovCath, or NewCath play, so I am not going to predict what games the Tigers can win, but I pretty much agree with the premise of this. Its a good team. There's some good talent. Games like (and Mt Healthy, FC, CCH) this expose your weaknesses, fix/adjust them, and allow you to grow and learn. They could just play a A and AA schedule and rock on to an 9-1 record or so, and when they get thumped by Frankfort or Mayfield or someone in the 3/4th round of the playoffs, everyone is going to ask why did they underachieve. They're being tested now.

And, the point about Dixie's defense giving up 21 points despite 9 starters coming back. That says more about the potential of Beechwood's offense than it did Dixie's defense, or whether they have too many two-way players, etc. They only gained 84 yards on 30 carries. Fieger, Studer, Stringer, Stokes, et al are good enough playmakers to keep drives alive and score TDs despite being outmanned physically.

Many, including myself, see Beechwood occasionally beat very large schools. I/we should not expect that to happen all the time. BW is a very strong 1A program capable of bringing home the brass every year. Very few programs can say that within their own class. I hope the Tigers are practicing Thanksgiving Day in line for a shot at the title.

Beechwood needs to find a running game. Put in some new looks, new plays, do something because they have not been very good running the ball in either game so far. More misdirection plays. You have two weeks to work on some new running plays and then test them out against Franklin County.

Nothing against Max Nussbaum because he did so many things well but Cameron Vocke was the last RB in the BW stable that you knew was going to do something special on every play. He would basically design his own plays with his eyes, feet and instincts. It's been a little bit of "difference maker" drought in the backfield since Cameron moved on to college ball. When and where will the next Cameron Vocke come from for the Tigers?

Beechwood did not come to play.. They were a step slow the whole game..

Ok so your the second person (someone made a similar post like this about last weeks Beechwood game) to say this. What gives, why is a team like Beechwood not ready to play?

I certainly understand that thought in your first sentence. The bottom line is that Dixie will most likely end #2 or 3 in the district again, win a playoff game or two, and SK will have to beat them a second time again. It's a good, not great, 6-A team that had a bad Saturday morning a week ago.

Feeling pretty good about beating a 1A school, eh? You know Mr. Classy, it was only a few short years ago that BW hung around 60 points on Dixie and their prize QB. I don't recall any BW tool spouting off about the victory like you are tonight. Grow up.

Are these the same BW fans talking titles and championships, and beating 5-6A teams. Now we are playing the 1A card. That's pretty funny. Only gets played when convenient.

You do not even have a clue what card I am playing, do you?

Ethan Schulte was still in the game late. He is the last guy I would want hurt considering he can put the ball in the endzone on every kickoff.

Beechwood tried hard... but they were just way overmatched. Too much size, talent, speed and toughness on the Dixie side tonight.

After all the hot air blown by the Beechwood faithful in the prediction thread I'm wondering if Beechwood fan even watches football?

New to this, bare with me. I went to the Beechwood, Dixie game to watch what I had heard might be some of the best linemen in NKY, Johnson of Dixie, Combs of Beechwood, and Machlitt of Dixie. After watching this game, it seemed to me, Johnson was a man child on the field, he was completely dominate. Combs of Beechwood is a great looking player, but really didn't do to much, I think he had only one tackle. Machlitt of Dixie is a stud, he out played his rival in Combs by a lot. Think he had like 3 sacks, and was all over the field making tackles, all night long, tough kid, both Machlitt and Johnson play both ways as well as Combs. Hearing Combs is more of a baseball player, and will play baseball in college. Both Johnson, and Machlitt of Dixie will be great gets for some college who want some really good football players, liked the #27 for Dixie as well. Fun team to watch, very physical. Good luck to both teams.
