Dixie Heights 48 Beechwood 21

New to this, bare with me. I went to the Beechwood, Dixie game to watch what I had heard might be some of the best linemen in NKY, Johnson of Dixie, Combs of Beechwood, and Machlitt of Dixie. After watching this game, it seemed to me, Johnson was a man child on the field, he was completely dominate. Combs of Beechwood is a great looking player, but really didn't do to much, I think he had only one tackle. Machlitt of Dixie is a stud, he out played his rival in Combs by a lot. Think he had like 3 sacks, and was all over the field making tackles, all night long, tough kid, both Machlitt and Johnson play both ways as well as Combs. Hearing Combs is more of a baseball player, and will play baseball in college. Both Johnson, and Machlitt of Dixie will be great gets for some college who want some really good football players, liked the #27 for Dixie as well. Fun team to watch, very physical. Good luck to both teams.

Guessing you're a beechwood fan, they'll be just fine, playing bigger schools will only help them down the road, best to ya Zero.

I agree that Johnson was over powering. I remember hearing Matchlitt's name a couple times but didn't notice him like Johnson. I also agree on #27 Luke Zajac. He was the second most impressive Dixie player after Johnson.

If Dixie wants to make a playoff run, they will need to develop their passing game. Moore is a great runner. He hit the one long pass play but the receiver was wide open. He needs to get more accurate throwing the ball. Dixie's success in 6A will depend on this.

I was not at this one, but was at the Mt Healty game. Sounds like same game played out. Complete dominance by opposition on both lines, which is hard to understand. BW has some nice size kids. Strength seems to be a real issue, which tells the tale of off season workout programs and dedication to same. BW has athletes all over the field, and from what I saw they do a poor job a distributing and balancing the plays. I get to very few Tiger games, but I typically know what play is coming based on personnel package and alignment. That's play calling and imagination. They keep trying to fit square pegs in round holes, i.e. trying to continually ram the ball between tackles on running plays. Looks to me like they have a bunch of in space guys, but do very little out of sets to utilize them. Have it occasionally stretch the defense and run a toss sweep or something. Ran a great end around to slusher in game at UC, he turned it into a big play. Studer is great on the edge and as a WR, but between the tackles he is pedestrian. Stringer can fly, but seems lost tip toeing behind the center looking for a yard or two. No excuse to get beat that bad. Dixie is not a great team, at least not as good as BW made them look. Seems they need a little shake up in play calling duties or at least philosophy. No clue about defense. In the games I have watched they appear lost and have no continuity or team concept of where they are to be and when.

Mailbu .... Beechwood worked harder in the weight room than ever this off season. There was great work ethic and commitment from the players.

The Tigers tried to run the ball inside, outside, misdirection and Dixie had the answer for it all.

No play calling would have changed this game. Flat out Dixie dominated the line. Hard to run any plays when the guys up front cant get any push..

Good post, this was just what I remember off the top of my head. Johnson, in the backfield all night long, 1-2 sacks 6-8 tackles 2-3 as. Zajack a ton of return yards, 8-10 tackles 3-4 as. Machlitt, 2-3 sacks, 5-6 tackles 2-3 as. I'm not arguing any of these players, but my post was about what I had be hearing about some of the top linemen in NKY, that's all.

Is this your first time watching Beechwood????

IMO, Beechwood is a good team, they just played flat. Dixie is a good team, and they looked ready to play, it's high school kids and like Forest Gump said, you never know what you're going to get, week to week.

I have posted this before on here - flat is an excuse for got your butt kicked. I laugh when I hear people use that word. Very, very rarely is a team ever flat for a game. There is zero .... absolutely zero .... chance Beechwood was flat for the Dixie game. If you recall, in the game Beechwood scored on their first possession. It was a 7-7 game at that point. If you are flat, would you take your opening possession and march down field on a 70 yard drive and score a TD? Beechwood was not flat. They got beat because Dixie is better.

Didn't know you where the Czar of this message board, I was just stating what Beechwood looked like to me on the field. Didn't realize you had the final say on all post. My point is, high school kids week to week are unpredictable sometimes. Flat is an excuse, doesn't mean a team can't seem that way on the field, relax.

No way they they beat Franklin County!!!
