Class of 2017 ranking-Top 30

Featured Replies

A top 30 ranking without Sean McNeil is crazy. The kid can play. Crawford will not get much love playing at Bracken County, but he is definitely a top 10 player in the state for 2017.

McNeil is definately top 30!

Not having McNeil on these ranking kind of invalidates them for me. Tells me that they are not looking at all kids.

6 kids from Louisville and 2 from the 11th region. Sounds like the talent might be dispersed pretty evenly across the state for this group.

Or is this a case of kids from bigger schools not having as much of an opportunity to stand out as early?

Maybe, but I think that there's a kid or two on here who are over ranked because they have benefitted due to the exposure from playing at a "big school." Cuts both ways.

....

I believe Cole is sitting on D1 offers from Winthrop and NKU, although there could be more. I'm certain some on here will have more / better information on his college offers.

You are correct. Those 2 for now, but if he continues to approve obviously he should rack up a few more.

Tobler is going to be really good. I've been trying to tell everyone all summer.

Big time athlete. Kid has some serious bounce.

Kel Stotts is WAY too low.

There was talk of him being the best player in this class and now he's listed at #17?

Also agree that Sean McNeil is top 30. One of the better scorers in this class. Had a 45 pt game this summer.

VonHandorf is probably closer to top 5 than bottom half of top 10. Several coaches told me he was one of the top 3 freshmen they saw from KY this year and that he was the best player for the Travelers as a frosh.

If you are projecting best college prospects, Trace Young is clear cut #1 in my opinion. He's a 6'8 wing who can get to the rim and has a decent mid range game. Vogt would be #2 or 3 in my opinion because he's a legitimate center which are rare these days. He can score with his back to the basket and rebounds the ball well.

Whose game would you compare his to?

^^Tobler is a brute. Very powerful and uses his body very well. That's his game. He's definitely a PF, not a SF. It has been pointed out that a lot of these heights seem exaggerated and 6'3" does seem a little tall for him. I say that having seen him matched up against other where I know their heights. Even at sub 6'3", he is athletic and strong enough to be a force at the high school level.

Jerryd played for GRC last year, and is listed at GRC in the original link. Is this a mistake, or is he now at Montgomery Co?

This puzzled me too. To my knowledge he is still at GRC. I will try and make some calls today and report back.

I just confirmed Jerryd is at GRC. I edited it on the list.

I have to think Sean McNeil (I think that's the right McNeil) from Cooper will be on the list of top 30 before these boys all graduate.

I was going to say the same thing.

He should be a good one. Should graduate holding all the scoring records at the school.

None of the Cordia players? I figured at least one of their 28 year olds graduating in 2017 would have made the list.
