I agree w/ the stadium being empty, but it was still a college field for the players to say that they played on. However, to play Dixie, at Dixie like NewCath has done doesn't make sense unless there is money to be made from it. I'd have to think that there is, which is exactly what Clyde seemed to be wanting to clear up.

Let me guess...you are a goldstar guy. :lol2: Beyond the excitement of bringing in a few top teams from the midwest ( who typically play a Cincy school, not NKY ), " going back a few years. " Not a lot is redeemed from the schools that they can't achieve on their own......BUT!

 

Aside from Beechwood, Covcath, and Dixie Heights players enjoying some free grilled food and beverages at a pep rally Saturday before last. The same marketing and communication could be achieved by the participating schools, but hasn't, so Gamble created and filled a need. Was the creation necessary in the first place? Do more people attend the involved games as a result of the marketing? Weigh that against, your school would be better served by______________?

 

I like skyline, goldstar, dixie, pleasant ridge, and camp washington chili....:thumb:

 

Curious as to whether a portion of "profit" goes towards a cause outside of Gambles pocket? Good thread Clyde...

 

 

If Tom is pocketing 100% of the profit I'm cool with that. He took the risk.

 

My son played in one of these at UC in 2003 against Cincy X. Fun event. Cool experience with a decent crowd in a nice venue for the game. If it was that and part of an all-day event where I could watch multiple games then I'd be OK with it. It's not that anymore.

That's funny. After posting this thread the thought that maybe I've already asked did cross my mind. Ehh, new posters get to now listen to me rant a bit.

$5 per ticket for normal game Saturday. How many people do you think might attend? Capacity is 2500. Maybe 1500 for this one which would mean $7500? Hard to imagine they're getting that much of a guarantee.

I know many parents and students NOT happy about ticket prices, as well as, those of us with "coaches pass". :lol2: With that said, I'm fortunate that I deliver to Tom's office, so he "comps" me a few tickets each year. :thumb:

 

I enjoyed the double-header games in the past, as well as, when the Breds played over at Nippert Stadium.

I know many parents and students NOT happy about ticket prices, as well as, those of us with "coaches pass". :lol2: With that said, I'm fortunate that I deliver to Tom's office, so he "comps" me a few tickets each year. :thumb:

I think competing schools can market games more effectively and build consensus amongst one another and share profit. What do you say Clyde, have Red and Blue Colonel boosters host a chili cookoff at a neutral site next year....? Profit going to an agreed upon charity, scholarship, common good cause.:thumb:

In the CCH/Dixie prediction thread it was posted that CCH (as host) has agreed to allow season passes which I assume includes coaches passes.

When the Crosstown first came about it was fantastic. Ohio vs KY teams, doubleheaders, nice venues, etc....

 

Now unless some of that remains...............I am like Clyde, I just do not get it. Games in Week 3 that would have been played anyway???.......at the place they would have been played anyway??? For a higher admission cost???? Why?

I will say what I said in the past.

 

I like the idea of multiple games at a venue to make it a day of football etc. But this has gotten so big with so many teams involved it just doesn't mean anything.

 

I think something like taking the top 8 teams in NKY and same from GCL and just have them play. It could be the top from the previous season.

 

If you are going to have it, make it special. This isn't special for anyone the way it is now.
