Classless. The respect needle for St. X and it's followers keeps tilting to the negative with every one of these type of posts. There is a valid reason that the Louisville police visited the home of the kid who supposedly started this. Social media is the reason that this kind of nonsense has to be taken seriously. Many troubled youngsters have posted warning signs on social media that went ignored and havoc was wreaked. We live in a different world now. We do not need to be afraid but taking caution until all the facts are in place seems to be the sensible way to go.

Maybe I missed this but if the "Purge" was the reason for not going to Louisville Friday night then why didn't SK go Saturday afternoon or Saturday night after the "Purge" had ended?

 

And it is a serious question. If the reason for not going was the 8:30 to 6:30AM Purge time why did St. X have to come up to SK?

For those who are unaware: St Xavier is bounded by Beargrass Creek and undeveloped land to the east. There is a huge cemetery to the north. A little league to the south with a hostpital behind it. And finally, to the west, stands George Rogers Clark Park and a neighborhood. There is only one street with two entrances that allow you access to the stadium.

The scrimmage was not the only event cancelled in the Louisville area due to the purge threat.

What was cancelled? The other scrimmages were played. The fair went on. Restaurants were open. This was a hoax started by a high school kid who has not been charged.

Yeah, that's the first I've heard of anything else being cancelled. What other events were cancelled?

 

There was an article yesterday titled, "Purge takes it toll. Two dead." Very misleading headline since the article went on to say that there was not proof of the killings being tied to the Purge threat. The article did say that a private party at a bowling alley was cancelled because of the threat and a later event had sparse attendance. My guess is that the SK folks are not familiar with the suspect areas of Louisville neighborhoods and were just playing it safe. Even if the killings were unrelated to the Purge I would want to know in what neighborhoods they occurred before I ventured into the Louisville area. I do the same when I go across the river into Cincinnati. Am I afraid? No. Do I put myself on high alert? Absolutely.

As a T supporter pointed out, X is about one mile from the Watterson, in a residential neighborhood, surrounded by cemeteries, Audubon hospital, a ball park, with only 2 entrances to the school. For all events at the school we use uniformed officers to direct traffic and security on campus. Our campus is several acres with several new facilities which have not been vandalized. The retired Xaverian Brothers live on campus. Safety has never been an issue.
