All I have to say is thank god my son attended a school and school district where coaches and the AD didn't feel they needed to cheat and allowed the kids in the school district to play the sports they wanted to play. I don't know how I'd react if my son wanted to play basketball and had to pray just to make the team and then sit on the bench behind 5 players who weren't even from the area. What kind of lesson does that teach? Sure doesn't teach sportsmanship.

 

 

Who is to say Cordia will remain a part of the KHSAA? You don't have to be a part of the KHSAA to schedule and play basketball games.

Very true, and if they actually go ahead and do what Rhodes wanted all along and be a prep team then I have no problem with anything they are doing to bring in players.

 

It's only if they want to stay a part of KHSAA that I have issues with if they are continuing to recruit because it isn't fair to the rest of the teams in the state and that has been my sole complaint on the entire thing from the start.

 

Even playing field is what it all comes down to with me in any sport.

Very true, but to keep it as close as possible so the competitiveness is still there.

 

Trust me, I know about even playing fields and the fact that there will never be an even playing field. My son played in one of the only school districts in the state that had closed enrollment so every accomplishment they had on the football field for instance meant even more to us than some other schools because of that.

 

At the same time, there will always be transfers at schools etc. but when you have 1 or 2 transfers from a neighboring district is a little different than having your entire starting lineup from out of state etc.

Nah, the kids are telling folks nowadays. Not the school. Mulitple kids have announced via twitter where they are attending school this year. Some have even been outed by BGP and been forced to admit it. I've never seen any school announce their transfers before so Cordia would be the first. Seeing as how they act like a college maybe they should let us know when the press conference will be announcing their new roster that can't play until 2015.

While true and I agree with both of you, I think the better way to put it would have been...everyone is playing by the same set of rules, which is the whole purpose of the KHSAA. Once this is done, then talent, teamwork and coaching take over, which in the case of those aspects, the playing field will NEVER be level or equal. Somebody's always going to be better, stronger, have more, be more dedicated, out hustle, etc.
