Reds Can Include Pete Rose In Next Year's All-Star Game

Featured Replies

The Reds will be allowed to include Pete Rose in All-Star Game festivities next season, even if it is on a limited basis, commissioner Bud Selig said Tuesday.

"That'll be up to the Cincinnati club, and they know what they can do and they can't do," Selig said. "They've been very good about that. We haven't had that discussion."

How do you tell the story of baseball in Cincinnati or the story of the Cincinnati Reds without Rose?

"You don't," Reds owner Bob Castellini said Tuesday.

"We plan on using him wherever Major League Baseball is comfortable with, but we're certainly going to include him," Castellini said.

I hope they honor him like they should.

I'll just wait to see him at Hollywood that night.

I just hope the Reds will replace that worn out, faded picture of his 4192 bat and ball that you see on the stadium when crossing over from Ky via the Taylor-Southgate bridge before the All Star game next year. Worn out, faded Pete Rose, well you can't do much about that.

Good. Glad to hear he gets to be a part of it.

For the record, any of these celebrations without him seem incomplete.

Just let him in the HOF already. The rest of the hit leaders and their totals are less meaningful without his at the top. Stop the madness.

Exactly. That's why it's stupid to try and whitewash history. It happened. Everybody should move on.

Rose has the one record that may never be touched. Just put him in already. The people want to see it...for the most part.

They've made their point. It'll hang over his head and any windfall he could have gotten from it is out the window. It's silly at this point.

Pete will never get in while Bud is in charge. In his mind, Pete killed Giamatti.

I guess im the only one who things Pete should be as far away from baseball as possible.

Why do you have that thought process?

You cannot deny what he did between the foul lines. He played to win 100% of the time and if he could beat you by 10, he'd try to. (And I know some of you will post, "well that's because he had $ on the run spread")
