Homemade Salsa

Featured Replies

I'm trying my hand at some homemade salsa this weekend. Never tried it before, and trying to compile all my ingredients and having some trouble. Anyone know a grocery store in the NKY area that I can get some fresh Banana Peppers and Chipotle Peppers from?

Also, anyone have any recipes they'd like to share?

Never made it but love homemade salsa, particularly chunky. Buddy of mine makes a killer salsa and he claims it's really easy to do. I'm just lazy.

^Yeah, recipe I'm going to try seems extremely easy, and all the reviews on it were outstanding. Just need to find those last two ingredients. :lol2:

One thing that really surprised me on my buddy's is he uses vinegar instead of lime. Sounded awful but for some reason it works.

My grandparents made great salsa but I don't think anyone has their recipe.

Home made Salsa is awesome! Once you figure it out try a small batch with some whole kernel corn in it, that little bit of sweetness is awesome!

We have a great recipe that I LOVE. I'm at work and don't have it on me, but remind me via text and I'll post it on here later. So good and very easy to make...just takes some time with a knife and a cutting board.

Simplest salsa I've ever made and people LOVE it. I have sold it before at bake sales and it goes first every time.

- 1 can of normal rotel

- 1 can of the mexican blend rotel

- Garlic slat/powder

Combine all in a food processor and you are done. It has the perfect consistency of peppers and tomatoes. Not too spicy, but it has a bite. The more in advance you make it, the better.

Probably get them at Jungle Jims. Might be a little far to go.

This one calls for both vinegar and lime.

Will do. Thanks! :thumb:

I will volunteer my services to be a judge whenever you NKY posters decide to have a Best Salsa Contest.

Let us know how it turns out.

I make homemade salsa all the time. One of the few things I do make homemade. Mine is a little spicy and not too chunky. I use whole jarred tomatoes from garden, Rotel, onion, fresh jalapeno from garden, salt, sugar, garlic, cumin, lime juice, and cilantro. If I have some other fresh peppers, I will add them also.
