With a D-2 co-player of the year who is a pitcher and 3 other 1st team D-2 players I would say NCC, not Highlands, should be favored to win the 36th district tournament.

So every player nominated by their coaches automatically made HM, and the voting the coaches did was for POY, 1st team, and 2nd team. And coaches that did not submit any players for their school missed an opportunity.

I would agree! I also noticed that all but 4 players on the first two teams in D2 were All A players! No wonder that's such a great tournament! :ylsuper:

I would point out that Beechwood who just got eliminated in the district tournament by Holy Cross 3 to 1 in eight innings could have had two more players nominated.

 

Pitcher Stacey Rengering had 19 or 20 wins this year including 3 over Holy Cross and 2 over Newport and a couple over Holmes too, and rock solid first baseman Raquel Barry, who delivered clutch hit after clutch hit.

 

Congratulations to all the award winners, and to the organizers of this fine event for the girls!

...and I would agree on Stacey Rengering. We were quite surprised she didn't get nominated, she had a fine career in the circle for the Tigers. She went out and gave it her best every time.

Very impressive! 5 no hitters and 2 perfect games! That seems like a lot! Is that any kind of record for a season? Who were those against?

 

Not that I think you are trying to discredit Haley's numbers, but should we then ask who Shelby hit her HR's, doubles & base hits against? I would not dare go that route, looking at those numbers both are having solid years no matter who they are playing.

 

I say we just salute these two young ladies for putting up some damn impressive numbers for a hitter and a pitcher.

Since you and I have already discussed this in person earlier this evening, I'll let the masses in on our discussion.

 

1. If you really think about it, this would be a huge "nightmare" for all involved and not a good idea for so many reasons.

 

2. As a member of the Coaches Association Board, myself, Joe Stephenson (ND), & Kristin Koors (Conner) decided to send the coaches the final voting ballots for their Division, however, in a manner in which they would never know what team voted for what player, but they would get to see the voting for each player in their Division. I sent all the coaches this on Saturday night, with instructions that it was "for their eyes only" and was NOT to appear on this board or any other social media site.

 

3. All 3 Board members were copied on the Official ballots from all the coaches, this way there could be no implied "fun business" if only one person was tabulating the votes.

 

4. Having three sets of eyes going over the ballots and counting the votes was beneficial, in the fact that we all made mistakes in one way or another, and thus were able to avoid......1 girl mistakenly being placed on 2nd Team when she belonged on 1st Team because of an adding error, one girl's vote was given to the wrong girl and when corrected making the correct girl a 1st teamer, and two girls going from HM to 2nd team because of an adding mistake. With all the numbers and names, it was easy to make honest mistakes, however with three sets of eyes, we were able to find each others mistakes and rectify.
