No Dave Matthews room?

Actually the "Tomcat Room" will also partially be a "Dave Matthews Room" also. The color scheme will obviously be maroon and white, with 2 walls dedicated to the Tomcats and 2 walls to Dave Matthews. :ylsuper: Rickyp, if you are lucky I may let you see my room once its completed, but first I will need a Dr.'s note saying that you've had all your shots...

He needs to be on his medicine too. I mean he does take some for that, does'nt he? :D

If this is true ( transfers) and they are football players then all I can say is.....

Hasn't Ashland's Athletic Director been one of the most outspoken people on the transfer / public vs. private debate?

yes

What does that have to do with anything? The kid is currently only a freshmen in high school and never played f-ball before. Its not like they landed a big time transfer like Boyd County does every year.

The other point I never see clarified concerns the difference between those who have actually moved their official residence into the school districts boundary for reasons such as job, family situation, or other personal reason vs. those who apparently just pick where they are going to attend.

Im showing my age, but didnt it used to be strictly a matter of what school district one actually resided in? - excepting of course religious options. [im aware folks can subvert the alleged "reason" for moving, but thats for another thread]

Those are 2 different debates.

If someone moves into our "public" school district, aren't we bound by law to allow the child to attend the school?

Just curious?

Exactly! :thumb:

I have been really impressed with Darrell so far! He threw a couple really nice deep balls today. I also thought the new kid Tremell looked really good considering it was only his 2nd day of football practice ever!

Hopefully he will learn to play under pressure unlike he did last year during the JV season.

Just seems to be a little hypocritical to me. School personnel want to fight for Proposition whatever but it's so much different when Boyd County / Rose Hill gets the transfers! What does it matter if the player is a Freshman, a transfer is a transfer. Weren't Rose Hill's just grade schoolers?

Learning to play under pressure will come with time. :thumb:

The difference is when some schools legtimately have students move in from out of state or a few hours away, and then you have students who switch schools within the same region without changing residence, and they usually do this at the request of people who would like to see them at their particular school. Im not saying that this hasnt happened at Ashland in the past, because Im sure it has. But what Iam saying is that there have been quite a few players in this area who wanted to come to Ashland recently and they were turned away. But when a kid moves in from out of state what are you supposed to do?? That kid deserves the same opportunity given to every other student-athlete, because their "transfer" was for honest reasons, not solely to play sports. :thumb:

I think he or any other player will look better with the varsity rather than the JV players. And I don't mean to disrespect the JV players, but the level of play and intensity at the varsity level is higher. JV is a place where those players that don't get the chance to perform on Friday nights get to show what they can do. And as they impress you do see them some on Friday nights.

I guess since Ashland's administration are one of the proponents of that particular proposition that all transfers into the Ashland school district should be denied participation in all athletics. Sounds like the grounds for a good lawsuit to me.
