Hillary resisted labeling Boko Haram as terror group

Featured Replies

I have a feeling this issue is going to hurt her 100x more than Benghazi after a few articles I read today.

Certainly going to result in some major tap dancing during debates.

Serious question, as I don't know what it entails, but what would labeling them a "terror group" have done to prevent the atrocities involving the Nigerian school girls?

Whiter Shade Of Pale?

UKmustangfan, No way of knowing that but the article mentioned additional resources and intelligence at a time when the group was rapidly maturing.

The kidnapping is just the latest event in an outburst of violence from Boko Haram. I also wish I knew more about what labeling a group as a terrorist organization actually meant in terms of the resources of the US military, state department, and intelligence agencies being devoted to stopping their activities.

Here, I'll label them.

Official spindoc news release:

Boko Haram is a terrorist organization.

Problem solved. They're likely as frightened as if Hillary had named them a terrorist group.

“The one thing she could have done, the one tool she had at her disposal, she didn’t use. And nobody can say she wasn’t urged to do it. It’s gross hypocrisy,” said a former senior U.S. official who was involved in the debate. “The FBI, the CIA, and the Justice Department really wanted Boko Haram designated, they wanted the authorities that would provide to go after them, and they voiced that repeatedly to elected officials.”

I guess it does make a difference.

I have read enough that this is probably being over blown. The State Department was not cozying up to the group at all. But dealing with it in other methods and channels.

Now if you want to see a key 'who missed the boat' on a key terrorist. Check out the deal Susan Rice deep-6ed in 1997 with Sudan for ....you know who.

Duh, she could have carried out tons of questionable wiretaps and related surveillance against them.

Nice rationalization combined with the tired old "they did wrong too" excuse.

Not sure pointing out "Bubba" missing UBL is an example of this. If BGCard had pointed out Bush missing UBL in Tora Bora, I think your point would be spot on.
