May 8, 201412 yr IMO with more information he doesn't get re-elected, but I could be wrong because every Democrat I know is salivating for a Hillary candidacy. IMO Hillary Screwed up and the White House Covered up! Actually it was Rice that screwed up the overall situation in Libya. Africa was her 'domain'. While she may not have been involved with the tactical situation in Benghazi she (Rice) was the overseer of Africa policy in general and set directions and methods. Including the take down of Gaddafi. Hence why she did the Sunday rounds instead of HRC. I think HRC said - you made this bed - you lie in it.

May 8, 201412 yr This question is why clandestine operations are supposed to be clandestine...and least for some extended period of time. Succeed or fail....keep it quiet...and least for a while to digest feedback and channel chatter. Regardless of the outcome they should have stayed on the down-low and smoothed things over with Pakistan in private. You got a little tin-foil under that hat in the avatar? The tin foil hat crowd thinks he was dead well before whatever took place during this mission in Pakistan.
May 8, 201412 yr If it failed we would have never known about the mission. My guess is there are seal / special ops missions all the time that we never hear about. We heard about this one because it resulted in a successful kill of Bin Laden. But lets say for an instance they failed and made it public. Why would there be that much outrage? If the story was "we had credible intell that Bin Laden was in that house and we acted. However it turned out he wasn't there and we lost seals" I would think the consensus would be that they had to take that chance and go in.
May 8, 201412 yr How do we know Bin Laden isnt alive and is in some secret prison while we try to get info from him. I never saw a body to prove otherwise and as much as our governmetn lies, it wouldnt be far fetched for that to be true.

He's obviously never going to be able to harm anyone again either way.

I don't think they would have mentioned what they were doing if they had failed. Seems like that could potentially harm the people who gather that intel.
May 8, 201412 yr Would it bother you if he was alive? He's obviously never going to be able to harm anyone again either way. It would bother me if we were lied to, but not that he is never going to be a player in the game. I hope he is dead.

I don't think Obama would of been destroyed for it because I don't think we would have ever known. There are covert actions taken pretty often that we never hear about.
May 9, 201412 yr It would have been "Jimmy Carter and the Desert One fiasco" all over again. At least he manned up and accepted responsibility for the mission. Always respected him for that acceptance.
May 9, 201412 yr People would have eaten Obama alive had the mission been a failure. I gave/give the President big time credit for that, because it was a gutsy move to do what we ended up doing. Thankfully it was successful, and it's one of the few times I have applauded something Obama did, but he would've been crushed by both sides if it didn't go well. No gutsy move on his part. He was drug into okaying the mission by those under him. He was given the option months earlier and did not act. He was told that if the news got out that he had the chance to get Bin Laden and failed to act, the public would condemn him for his failure to go after Bin Laden.

That makes it gutsy. Especially when he wasn't allowed to take credit but would have gotten all of the blame.
