Beechwood cancels game vs Cooper

Featured Replies

Pretty sure the reason isnt fear. Big bad Cooper scares a lot of people, but I doubt thats not the case. Would you really find value in beating a JV pitcher, which is what you would have seen tonight? Would have been like the Conner game, JV vs ace.

If I assured my winning season via 2 forfeits I would rather have a losing season.

Bingo! That shouldn't be the goal. It should be qualifying for the Region tourney.

Exactly. Apparently pride comes cheap at some places.

I agree, no matter what teams are involved... If a game is on the schedule and it's cancelled for any reason other than bad weather, it should be a forfeit.

Make it up ASAP or call it a forfeit.

That is frustrating I'm sure. I would have expected it though. Lots of school stuff going on this week on top of a long weekend of games. It's a shame the Jags seem to be getting an unfair share of the normal mid and end of season schedule shuffling.

I think if they had any pitching left at all, they would have played.

We'll lend them a pitcher for the game :)

I can assure you Beechwood isn't afraid of Cooper.

Call Bellevue-you all seem to have a good relationship with them. Or Lloyd, or Highlands. You can only play so many games, and with Beechwood winning the all "A" state, it added more games to their schedule. this happens all the time in baseball and softball. If I was a 5A school, I would be scheduling up anyway, not down. Maybe Anderson in Ohio has an opening.

Looking at khsaa.org, Beechwood has played 25 games (including the Danville game yesterday which is not listed on the site). They have 8 more on the khsaa schedule giving them a total of 33. They are allowed 36. The Coach Connor Classic potentially could add a few more but would not put them over the limit. So I don't think the cancellation has to do with overscheduling.

You know what I mean, no need to be cute.

Don't worry it wasn't charity in the first place, Cooper would of beaten both anyway.

First off Cooper would of beaten both teams.

Cooper would have beaten Beechwood today. Give me both teams on equal rest, ace vs ace. I'll take Beechwood. Both aces are very good, but there are more hitters in the Tiger lineup.

So in your eyes, playing Beechwood is playing down? Interesting. I'll remember that.

Cooper had less hitters in the lineup last year and still beat them. Guess we'll never know since they have cancelled huh?

Correct me if I'm wrong, they either cancel today's game or tomorrow. They are unable to play 4 days in a row which means if they didn't play Friday, played Sat & Sun and then play today, they have to cancel tomorrow. Maybe after a long weekend they needed a rest and they would either play tired today, or a day rested tomorrow.

Just my 2 cents.

As I just posted , when a team cancels a game that is scheduled it should be counted as a forfeit. Cooper should have 2 more wins since Sat and Beechwood and Pendelton should have losses.

Ahhh c'mon HB. I understand the frustration of games cancelled. Heck, everyone knows CCH cancelled JV games last year twice against Highlands. When you lose 20% of your schedule to cancelled games, it's frustrating. But you want them as wins, what does that get you?

I think Copper is proven enough to be respected by NKY, even though their win/ loss record isn't outstanding. Heck, I think Highlands baseball has been under .500 forever and they make the regionals yearly and make plenty of noise. Finals 2 years ago. It's not about the win/loss record in baseball, it's who is playing the best at district and regionals that matters.

I don't believe Beechwood is and I can assure you Cooper isn't either. I think if you look back in the History of the 2 teams they are about 500 against each other.

In regards to the Bellevue post, they were not even put on the schedule this year, so I don't know where you are coming off with that. We play Lloyd once this year and have played Highlands twice.

They could've played today and tomorrow. KHSAA only says you can't play 4 straight school nights while school is in session. So the games on Friday and Saturday have no effect on the 4 straight days.

I can see where it's frustrating for Cooper, given the lack of games recently. I agree that it certainly makes it tough for a team to stay sharp.
