A few years ago when Craven was in his last few seasons, he had a freshman coach who was a girl. I thought she did a pretty decent job with the freshman program. Does anyone know who she was or what happened to her? IT seems that a female who was already in the program would have had an inside track at some point to become a head coach.

I think the female coach they had as a Varsity assistant this past year has moved on in her personal life and thus moved on from coaching. The other female they had on the JV staff moved on to PC last year, but I'm not sure either would have been ready for the Varsity position.

Lori Harpold (maiden name Franzen). Not sure what she is doing now.

I don't know much about Menefee except that he coached at Highlands. That alone makes me like him; If you tell me that he is a cake eater, I will like him even more. I have nothing against his hiring and hope he is very successful. No knock against him; just feel like it's the usual in Atown. That is my perception at least, as an outsider looking in.

 

He also coached at Bellevue and was also on Campbell County's staff.

Hmmmm, did they maybe not have any candidates with girls experience? Because I'm with you, that doesn't make sense. I also heard they didn't have anyone apply that impressed them and then went after Beau on Coach Flynn's recommendation. That may be a complete rumor, but it's out there. Anyone "in the know" have any info?

 

The decision on the coach was made prior to the the posting for applications even expiring. They did not interview all the candidates that applied for the position.

 

Coach Menafee walks into a lot of talent returning 16 Varsity letter winners from last year. With what CC returns and what the other schools in the district lost to graduation and transfer I think CC should be the favorite to win districts. I hope he can get the girls to play for the name on the front of the jersey instead of the name on the back.

Wow , 16 Varsity Letter Winners . We give up !:isurrender: But don't be surprised if subtraction of some , doesn't cause addition by others. Kinda gives that not good enough for you feeling. Might be an interesting year.:sssh:

Believe she's still teaching in the system. Very good person. Would make a good coach based on her experience.

Barrett Bradshaw will be joining Bishop Brossart as Varsity Assistant for the 2014-15 Season.

Agree 1000%. Barrett and the girls were thrown into a no win situation last year. As far as Beau making the adjustment from boys to girls, if Ron Dawn can do it without pulling out his golden lettuce then I'm giving Beau a great chance. :thumb:
