Great guy and coach no doubt. I would have to agree that going from boys to girls varsity, particularly in light of this situation could be tough. Guess we have to wait and see what the "decision" makers feel about this hire and how much support he gets. I hope for his sake that he establishes his expectations for parents immediately and gets good support to keep that noise down.

You know what's funny? When Murray got this job originally, Bradshaw had applied and was told he did not get the head coaching job because he did not have any girls' coaching experience. What has changed in the minds of the administration at CCHS that they now think having no girls' coaching experience is not such a big deal? Maybe it was because Coach Flynn (former HHS coach) was on the search committee? Hmmm...

 

IMO, CCHS loses out by not considering Bradshaw for this position permanently. I'm sure he will be fine though and good luck to him in future endeavors!

They had Bradshaw who had just bailed them out of a jam when Murray stepped down and he now had the girls' experience he didn't have when he applied the 1st time.

The obvious answer here is that Mike Flynn tapped Menefee for the job and apparently had more influence over the committee than anyone else. I doubt the administrations values and / or priorities have changed….CC will still continue to do the same things over and over hoping for different results.

 

I hope Menefee understands that coaching girls is NOT the same as coaching boys….I guess if they had hired someone with GIRLS VARSITY experience we wouldnt have to speculate about this. Good luck to him.

 

No doubt Bradshaw will land on his feet somewhere….just another case of using a coach and throwing them away, the CC way.

I'm going to express what is probably an unpopular opinion, but IMO coaching girls is a completely different animal than coaching boys. I would be hesitant to hire someone at the varsity level that had no experience coaching girls.

 

I know Beau very well and nothing against him in this case, but I agree with this statement 10000000%.

coach Menefee is a great choice.imo. He will work hard and everyone will be happy with his results. Except the people who are always negative, which know one can make them happy anyway. The administration did a great job with this hire.

The point of this has been that the target moves on the whim of the administration with no regard to the standards they self imposed.

 

I'm sure Menefee will do ok, he inherits some good talent. It's the selection process that is suspect and how they value loyalty at CC that is disturbing.

I think the real question is, How many people applied for this job? As for Bradshaw, it was time for a change. He did a great job last year in a bad situation. I must of missed something here, but how did Mike Flynn influence this? Menefee had ties before his Flynn days.

Because Flynn was on the selection committee and word has it that after a review of the candidate pool….Flynn suggested Menefee would be a good fit. Can't confirm or deny. Flynn was not a "regular" at CCHS, just filling in, so when you consider the entire situation in it's entirety it only adds suspicion to the process.

 

Just can't get a clean run at it at CCHS.

I don't know much about Menefee except that he coached at Highlands. That alone makes me like him; If you tell me that he is a cake eater, I will like him even more. I have nothing against his hiring and hope he is very successful. No knock against him; just feel like it's the usual in Atown. That is my perception at least, as an outsider looking in.
