April 22, 201412 yr Homer has the best stuff on the team. It's still, and always has been, a matter of what's between the ears with him IMO. You are one of those people who is in complete amazement with his 2 no hitters, besides that he's a .500 pitcher, who has never shown the ability to push past his mental issues and be a SOLID starter, start after start. In this situation this Reds team did, and does have enough starting pitching, and SHOULD HAVE traded Bailey, while he is still wanted by other teams, and could have gotten a bat, just saying. Mark my words once Bailey goes 9-11 this year, he's this team's VERY expensive boat anchor over the next 5 years, can you say Big Daddy Wilkenson. Bottom line Homer wasn't worth what this team paid him, and it WILL burn them, in the long run.
April 22, 201412 yr Once you used W-L record in your argument I quit reading. Homer was top 20 in the NL in QS last two years. By no means is that a perfect stat but shows he's pretty solid and consistent.
April 22, 201412 yr Did you miss the playoff games he's pitched in? There is no Doubt he has some of the best stuff in the league IMO, he just doesn't have the mental fortitude to put all together and be consistent yet
April 22, 201412 yr Reds win today, but lose the next two @ Pitt, then lose two of three against HOTlanta, and will be 8.5-9.5 games behind the Brewers come next Monday. Sorry this team DIDN'T get any better this off season, and I DO blame Jockerty for most of this teams problems.

Let me ask you this one question, do you think Bailey is a # 1 or #2 on this staff, if so great then you better hope he pitches like one over the next 5 years, if not, this was a BAD signing, i say it was the latter, just how I feel, sorry.

Periods and question marks are your friends. He has the stuff and has shown he can pitch like a 1 and 2.

On this staff, no. He is #3. Most staffs he's a #1 or #2.
April 22, 201412 yr Periods and question marks are your friends. He has the stuff and has shown he can pitch like a 1 and 2. You better pray he does, because there is NO Calvary coming or the Hill in this situation, Bailey is this teams George Custer, and we know how that turned out, YIKES!!!
April 22, 201412 yr On this staff, no. He is #3. Most staffs he's a #1 or #2. EXACTLY, I say a # 3 at best, and the Reds COULDN'T afford to pay it's #3 this much money, they aren't exactly the Yankees and have money to OVER PAY it's # 3 starter, this is my WHOLE point.

Exactly what? His order in the rotation is irrelevant. All that means is Latos and Cueto are really freaking good. Apparently they do have the money to pay market value for him.

Yes but they now they probably lose out on Cueto and Latos. Bailey better form into a #1 real soon, because he is the Reds #1 when they lose the other two.
April 22, 201412 yr How about the Latos trade? I'm not sure we can applaud the Latos trade unless he is locked up. I LOVE Latos, and I would have renewed / extended him well before Homer, but they didn't, and now I don't see how on Earth they can keep him too. Even with the fact they have to jettison BP sometime before 9/1/14. I'm sure they'll have to eat some / much of that contract for Phillips.
