Lee 62 Owsley 49

Fetters, Rich, Brandenburg too much for Owls. Anybody thinks Neeley is not top notch player wasn't at this game.

Congrats to Coach Wright and the Bobcats. :thumb:

I saw Neeley play at the Morgan Co Classic...I picked him out as one of my favorite players...plays hard.

This was the best game Owsley has played agianst Lee all year but Lee was still to much to handle. Lee dominated the boards with several rebounds both offensive and defensive. Lee got several second chance opportunities. Neither team shot the ball extremely well but both teams played a very aggressive game. Congrats to the Bobcats and good luck during the rest of tournament. They will be hard to beat.

Great Game Bobcats!!!!! The Bobcats held Smith to 13 I believe. Lee won this game without scoring a three pointer! Owls were ready for this one, and just fell short. Bobcats played good defense and pounded the ball inside well.

Lee hit no threes, Rich only scored 16, and Wright's team still led the entire game. Owsley looked better in the last 2 games (vs Breathitt/ vs Lee) than they have all season....IMO. I think that Robert Smith finished his basketball career with 13 points- 11 of those coming in the second half.

Lee's scoring was balanced and they picked off several lazy passes and scored quite a few points after breaking Owsley's half court press. Coach Wright was announced as the 14th Reg. Coach of Year at the start of the game.

Smith was ineffective in the first half. He got the shots they just didnt fall. Owsley did have several turnovers that prevented them from cutting into the Lee County lead.

I want to congradulate Robert Smith on his career. He has been very exciting to watch, a marvelous player. I liked to see him pursue his career in college some where. This kid can shoot the ball really well, i beleive he would fit right in on a college team. They would run him off screens like crazy. He has really turned his game completely around; he went from just been a slasher to an all around great player. Congrats to Lee!!!

Did Lee look good in the win? I know owsley not that great of a team.

Owsley had their moments where they could have gotten back in the game, but couldn't convert on some steals and open looks. Lee was just the better team, and they weren't going to let this game slip away.

With region host Knott out of the picture, and tradional power Perry ousted by Hazard, Letcher going down to Cordia, things open up quite a bit for the Bobcats. It's going to be important to go into the region as a winner and be able to play a district runner-up. it's looking like right now that the region is going to be as follows (or, my predictions) :

53rd--Winner: June Buchanan Runner-up: Cordia

54th--Winner: Hazard Runner-up: Leslie County (Close, but home court gives advantage to Bulldogs).

55th--Winner: Jackson City Runner-up: Wolfe County

56th--Winner: Lee County Runner-up Estill County (although I wouldn't be surprised if Powell gives Estill a scare tomorrow night)

Someone will get Wolfe County in the first round, and although they are playing better since Gilbert is back, that would be the best draw.

Cant agree more. Robert really seemed to see the light towards the end of his career and not only grow as a player but as an individual. Robert (What i hear) will probaly pursue a basball career(I also hear he is suppose to tryout of western from letters hes been getting), but maybe basketball will be added in. He went from just a good player to turning the entire owsley attitude around. Without him Owsley is down 20 at half tonight but with him and the brilliant play of Neeley Owsley had chances to pull the upset but just couldnt find the net.Robert's shot was off tonight due to the physical play of Lee but hats off to Robert for sticking in there and playing hard the whole game.

I also want to congradulate Coach Smith on playing Lee so close and giving his players a chance to win. By playing that zone and slowing it down Owsley had chances. There was several instances that neither team scored on numberous trips down the floor when either team could had pulled away enough to hold on for a berth to region. Neeley played an exceptional game, his big game experience(he started guard for lsat years' distric winner) really showed through tonight and raised him above the rest of the players on the floor.

Rich down low was slowed tonight but couldnt be stopped and Brandenburg handled the ball like a true point guard. Congrats to Coach Wright on winning the 14th Region Coach of the year.

Sounds like MO but I'm going with Leslie over Hazard.

Owsley just couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.
