April 4, 201412 yr If you just had knee surgery and caught a ball you had every right to catch and some punk pushed you for doing so, you wouldn't react? Raise your hand if you've never flipped someone off before because you were angry? I'm not saying the fan shoulda done it. I'm saying it's ridiculous to say the fan should be banned from the stadium, etc. etc. Why don't we just ban everyone that cusses if the tv mics pick it up and put it on the air by accident....
April 4, 201412 yr Yep So in your mind, shoving someone is A-OK, but reacting to getting shoved for no reason by giving the bird is out of line?

That's the crazy thing. The fan didn't go out of his way to attempt to catch the ball, didn't lean onto the field of play, he stood up, reached his glove up and caught a foul ball. Yep, how dare he react angrily to being shoved for such a thing...
April 4, 201412 yr If a basketball player went into the stands and gave a guy a little shove after the play, I bet the NBA would bring down some type of punishment. I do get the NBA has a history of violence amongst players and fans, but I still think the MLB should set a precedent with a one game suspension. Little or not, it should be unacceptable and not tolerated. And its hard to call it a friendly shove. Maybe a light shove.

If they don't feel a suspension is warranted, I disagree, but okay, not the end of the world....But now we've actually got people on here bashing the fan??? People these days...

If the MLB lets little things like this go on, how quickly will it escalate to bigger versions? (like the NBA).. If it gets to the point where they have to 'reel it in' no one will be happy with what goes on...

April 4, 201412 yr I can see a fine, but looking at things from this angle, he wasn't aggressive about it at all. Suspension would be over-the-top in my opinion.
April 4, 201412 yr So you think if Adams isn't punished then next time he'll take a swing at someone? Probably not, but what if next time (and I think this goes to his point) a guy gives a fan a shove and the fan decks him? 100% self-defense, and now you've got a giant fan/player brawl on your hands.
April 4, 201412 yr If this had been one of the more "controversial" players in Major League Baseball, what would the fine/suspension call be? What if Yasiel Puig did it? A.J. Pierzynski? Brandon Phillips?

April 4, 201412 yr If this guy would of decked Adams is it 100% self-defense? IMO, yes. He shoved him. The fan did nothing to deserve the shove. A shove is a threatening action.
