How I Met Your Mother

I honestly don't know what to think about it. It's like they went away from EVERYTHING they had been building towards for the show to really end just like it started. I liked how there were no loose ends but I was hoping Barney/Robin would be together and Ted and the mother would end up together.

Watched every episode of the show, and that was a satisfying end to the series. They lost their way really after maybe 4 seasons, merely having high spots and low spots after that instead of being consistently great. But I will very much miss the show.

As to the ending, the theories have been out there for some time that he was telling the story to the children because the mother had passed, so I was prepared for that. It seemed pretty clear that's where they were heading which took some of the bite out of it. Like others, I did not see Barney and Robin divorcing, though my wife called that early in tonight's show. Excepting that I was surprised that Barney and Robin broke up, I'm not surprised totally that Robin and Ted ended up together. Even long after it seemed really awkward for them to keep doing it, they kept on with Ted pining after Robin, even up to the weekend of the wedding. No matter what Ted did, he always carried that torch for Robin. They established that the mother was his true love, but also that Robin was basically his second true love. Even if she didn't always have that for him.

I wish that episode could have been the whole season instead if just the hour special. There was way too much going on so fast it was hard to keep up. But I've watched every lesions since the beggining and this was a great way for the series to go out. Love series finales that tie up loose ends so well, and especially loved the blue French horn coming back bringing the show full circle.

Thought it was the perfect ending to a great show. While Ted started out telling his kids the story of how he met their mother 6 years after she passed away, what he ending up telling was the story of how much he loved "Aunt" Robin. It all made the story tie together as you would have expected with the twist that he didn't leave their mom for Robin, but instead spent 6 years grieving her loss before moving on. mrs GT and I will miss tuning in every Monday night...

It's kinda pathetic but I've stewed over this all night. I feel ripped off as a fan who has followed the character development over the years. They made the mom so adorable and easy to see she was perfect for Ted just to kill her off in 10 seconds with no showing of grieving or anything. To go back to that floozie Robin. Why waste the entire last season on the sham of a wedding that was Robin and Barney. Grrrr, I'll get over it but I'm still peeved

I thought they accomplished a lot in 45 minutes, all things considered, and was pleased with the end.

I enjoyed the blue horn ending and no need for words. I really liked the kids emphatically "encouraging" Ted to call Aunt Robin. Would have liked to have seen Woman #31 and the mother of Barneys love child ( over the top great choice would have been if it was Barneys former stripper girlfriend, she was my favorite ). But hey, overall well done. They did a great job setting the table for Robin and Ted reuniting based on Robins reaction at the Halloween party. And Marshal finally gets the judgeship. The coming home from work comments and sticking to only positive comments, regarding his d-bag boss, was hysterical.

They prepped us for a lot of looking into the future scenes over the last 10 episodes and now we know why. They had to connect a lot of dots to get us to the end in the last 2 episodes. One of our families favorite shows for years and will trully be missed.
